I'm a CCW permit holder, mil veteran, and old fag. An indoor range I tried to go to wouldn't let me shoot because I was alone. No shit they don't let males shoot alone as walk-ins. You must have another person with you or be a female to shoot alone without buying their overpriced membership. I am a member at several ranges, one of which calls itself a club, but I just use it as another range, and everyone still has to check in before they get range time. If the committee stands by the ban, maybe they have a strict rule about non-members, and a kid being a non-member and shooting too far into twilight could be a sticking point for them, but that would only slip by if they don't have a check-in policy. I would still think that a letter of apology and a member present as an advocate could help. Furthermore, OPs dad should have been aware of any non-member issues and steered OP away from it in the first place or make his case to them. If the worst possible outcome is realized for OP, I would say that learning from it and not getting soured on guns altogether would be the best way to look at it.
