If you say anything without a turret basket isn't a tank you're an autistic WoT sperglord and should kill yourself.

I think the ATF needs to be dissolved and Firearm and Alcohol need to be regulated on an individual state level. Why is Tobacco even there? I guess they couldn't just have AF but still should have had something else like Alcohol Explosives and Firearms.

the only real tanks are your "light/medium/heavy and main battle tanks", hence the name

these are the only vehicles on your list that serve the role of a tank.

So a tank is not a self propelled gun?
>>

How can you run a cigarette? They don't even have legs.

Is a bulldozer a tank because it has tracks?

Then why SPG's, SPAAG's, TD's as per the diagram?

If I got a tractor, and put a zsu-23 on the roof, is it a tank? or just a Self Propelled zsu-23?
>>

No.

They do a horrible job at it too.

You can't run a race, that's like saying you can run niggers or wetbacks. Well I guess you can run individual ones but an entire race? Are you being stupid?
>>
>>28878561
Nope. SPGs are artillery. Try to use an SPG as a tank in any real fight and it will get absolutely fucked.

Main differences include a lot less armor and a gun not designed to be fired directly. The ammo is different too, no APFSDS in a 155mm.

Breddy sure Paladins have direct fire kills on T-72s.

More of the fact that you think an SPG is not a tank, and a tank is not an SPG, when a tank is literally a self propelled gun. And so is an SPG. And so is a SPA.

M109A6 does, yeah, but it's not designed for that purpose, as I said, and only did it when they needed to.

I mean that their is more than a tank than the fact that it carries a heavy gun, smartass. There are more criteria, all of which it would have to meet to qualify as a tank.

Is nobody man enough to actually prove me wrong other than sperging on and on about how "no its not X its Y" with zero evidence to the claim?
>>
>>28878915
alright man I'll take it

a tank has several characteristics that define it as such, usually along the lines of tracks, heavy armor, and a powerful gun

SPGs or SPA lack the heavy armor of a tank, thus are not tanks.
>>
>>28878959
>SPGs or SPA lack the heavy armor of a tank, thus are not tanks.

So you would define an SPG as something with little armor and a disproportionately large gun?
Sherman would like a word with you, along with a myriad of other tanks.

>SPA
>tracks
>variably sized cannon/howitzer, generally "big"
>armored

>'tank'
>tracks
>variably sized cannon/howitzer, generally "big"
>armored

Such distinction. So very clear.
I mean, other than the fact that they're both self propelled guns.
>>
>>28878981
>Sherman

Sheridan. Sherman works too, I guess.
>>
>>28878981
Sheridan is a cavalry tank. The armor is pretty light but the role is different from an MBT. It's still technically a tank, this is where the idea of role comes to mind. Sheridan is meant to be used like a tank but had to be light and air-droppable. You don't use an M109 like a tank, at least by design.

The main difference is intended purpose.
>>
>>28879014

So lets get this straight, basically everyone's argument here is, "you make it up as you go along".
Instead of disproving the picture which works.

k.
>>
>>28879027
SPGs are still artillery and not tanks, buddy boy.

>SPGs or SPA lack the heavy armor of a tank

I'd really like to know at what armor thickness a SPG becomes a tank.

A tank is literally a self propelled gun. A gun that propels itself.

Is your mother aware that you have autism?
>>
>>28879042

Pretty much any tank can be used as both direct and indirect fire artillery though.

Too bad anything under the tracked section in OP fits that description.

AFV - armoured fighting vehicle
APC - armoured personnel carrier
IFV - infantry fighting vehicle
SPG - self propelled gun
SPA - self propelled artillery
SPAAG - self propelled anti-armour gun
SAM - surface (to) air missile
TD - tank destroyer
L/M/H - light medium heavy tanks
MBT - main battle tank

Did I get them all right?
>>
>>28881386
SPAAG is Self Propelled Anti aircraft Gun.
>>
>>28878827

>opinion
>right

Lol dum sperg
>>
The way I see it is a tank depends on the purpose of the vehicle. A MBT can be an AFV IFV APC etc all in one and be called a tank safely. I believe tanks are, however, fighting vehicles and need a gun to be classified as such. Rotating or not. The literal definition of tank is "a heavy armored fighting vehicle carrying guns and moving on a continuous articulated metal track." So if its got tracks, its built for fighting, is 'heavy', and has a gun its a tank. On the other hand I suppose you could say if it has any armament turret or not it's a tank since its 'carrying guns'. I honestly think its a word that rests with the person using it to describe one thing or another. It isn't a set in stone word like gun.
