I don't know how it is in the Navy, but I know the guys I served with in the Army would have never put down our weapons, gotten on our knees with hands above head, handed over the boat, and certainly wouldn't apologize on Iranian TV. Our response would have been "you can tow us back out to International waters, or leave us be and our own guys will come and get us, but you're not taking our weapons or our boat, and you're not taking us captive". Maybe we would have all died in a fire fight, but our military's honor and reputation would have been maintained; a reputation many men have died before us to maintain.
