Held off buying it for a while, kinda regret it. Hate how its narrated in third person, pretty sure Gene wrote it but the way he talks about himself is fucking horrible to read. Maybe ill just start Matterhorn

Just finished this one.

Its about black tankers. It was written in the 70's so its not PC.

Everybody is calling everybody else nigger. From the white officers describing the men, and on down the line. Pretty funny.

Pic related. I haven't touched anything Warhammer in quite a while, but the grit of this book (and the book it sequels) feels fucking great.

It's fun to see how deep the rabbit hole went. And it's scary to imagine how deep it goes now.

Amazon is shipping Bleeding Talent: How the US Military Mismanages Great Leaders and Why It's Time for a Revolution.
I'm looking forward to it.

It's why I don't 100% dismiss 9/11 conspiracies. More like 99% dismiss them. Something shady maybe happened, but no one has stumbled on to what it was, possibly.
>>
>>28851281
What is it?
>>
>>28851322
Ill be honest. I cant really dismiss the 9/11 stuff either. I dont want to believe it was a conspiracy. But it could have been.

Book of the New Sun, very good if you like sci-fi/fantasy. I'm biased but it's probably the best of those genres. Basically takes place in a far future where the sun is dying and earth has a reverted back to a feudal society.

>>

pretty good. I read it with an internet connection. I think I spend more time looking up the history of generals, commanders and ships then reading the book. looked up Eben-Emael and Rudolf Witzig today after reading about the successful german defense at Dejefna?

Dune got a little weird through Heretics and Chapterhouse I'll admit, but I still enjoyed the original 6 books.

Anything by his son is complete and utter shit though.

>sisterhood of dune

It's only now, after many years, that I realize how liberal and full-on SJW a lot of sci-fi authors are.
>>
>>28852133
Not him, but just go through like this
>Fall of Reach
>First Contact
>Ghosts of Onyx

You can add Cole Protocol if you like, it was okay.

Contact Harvest is...eh...You be the judge how far you want to delve.

Past that, the rest are garbage. Stick to the Nylund novels and you should be good.
>>
>>28852219
I'm a dumbass, not "First Contact" but rather "First Strike."
>>
>>28852219
Some of the Halo:Evolutions stories are pretty good too.

One is about a guy who survived a brute attacked, got stranded, and has to just wait while the brutes go ape shit and eat grunts and other stuff. If memory serves right.

Though it also has some stuff to stay away from too.
>>
>>28852199
>SJW a lot of sci-fi authors are.

But then there's John Ringo and Tom Kratman. S.M. Stirling can also get pretty gritty. For that matter, Heinlein was developing SJW tendencies in his later books but still managed to exude casual racism and sexism all over the place.

David Drake is another really good writer.

And Rudyard Kipling absolutely rocks.

I'm not sure what you think you're saying, but if you think liberals can't be edgy when they want to then you've never seen a Hollywood movie.

>gritty scene in a book
Not political.

>the fact that the book is about a "sisterhood"
Political.

You probably don't realize it, having grown up and come of age in the 2010's, but the whole concept of a "sisterhood" is a neologism, paralleling the word brotherhood, which has actual historical and significant social meaning.

recently read two scifi books on my kindle.

...
Space Carrier Avalon by Glynn Stewart, kinda meh teir.
and Decisively Engaged by C.J. Carella, a entertaining read if a bit cliche.

that said, since i've been ina scifi streak recently (thats only the last two books i've read in teh last month, i've read maybe 7 or 8 other books all scifi, although if you are interesting in a decent scifi series, i recommend Man Of War series (three books and a prequal thus far) by H. Paul Honsinger.

i figured i was gonna read the ringworld set net, i only ever read the first book originally (ringworld) i wasn't even aware it was a series. then after that i might go for the heechee sage by Frederik Pohl (i've only read heechee rendezvous and wasn't aware it was a sequal at the time, i was 12 at the time and wasn't aware i was reading it out of order)

picture is a unrelated build for my first AR, just posting a pic since pic usually means more replies)

this and John Steakley's Armor are among two of my favorite scifi books.
