Do you think they'll ever start producing SKS's again?
>>
>>28734435
If anyone did the cost of production would make the msrp far to it to be feasible.
>>
>>28734435
Christ I hope so. Would love to get a good, cheap SKS in 5.56, be the ultimate cheap innawoods gun.
>>
>>28734467

I can't into English today

Good luck with that Jim
>>
>>28734483
if it were produced today, expect to pay like $700+
>>
>>28734435
no, it was a failure rifle then, it is still a failure rifle now.

I think it's a legite market if someone wanted to take it on. I know there's alot of em out there and I plan on getting done one day but the whole limited supply of em kinda freaks me out.
>>
>>28734483
>Cheap
The only reason SKS's were so cheap was because they were surplus, a modern repo would easily be mini-14 prices.
>>
>>28734524
Troll harder
>>
Norinco still makes them.

>>28734524
>failure
Hahaha.... Nope
>>
>>28734537
Seriously, its the ultimate weapon if you're fighting a WWI army. but its a piece of shit and was decomissioned except for ceremonial services by the russians before it hit mass manufacture. So keep your wrong opinion all you'd like.
>>
>>28734526
But the real draw to the sks has always been that it was one of the cheapest intermediate caliber automatics on the market. At the prices surplus ones go for now, and how much new ones would go for there is literally no reason to not get an ak or vz.
>>
>>28734553
Norinco makes everything. Literally every semi-popular weapon model in the last 100+ years. Because fuckboi's will buy them.
>>
>>28734569
Yeah, I'm a fuckboi. I've owned shotguns, sksen and pistols.
>>

Molot still produces the SKS, and it can be found in their current product line.

GET WITH THE TIMES YOU OLD FUCKING SON OF A BITCH!!!
>>
>>28734739
Oh man I love that you said that. So history lesson time.

Kalashnikov actually worked on the SKS. Now its not known what he did or how much but he was working under Simonov while the SKS was being designed. Simonov disliked Kalashnikov considering him too arrogant. Kalashnikov broke off the design team and made his own prototype that was not chosen. It was the SKS that made the cut according to the specs Stalin laid out. Stalin is responsible for the final version of the SKS. He also did not want detachable magazines. Then a couple years later Kalashnikov having redesigned his prototype submits it again. Kalashnikov actually convinced Stalin that detachable mags were a good thing. Its chosen to replace the SKS but its such a closely guarded secret that the west never even sees it until the Hungarian uprising in the 50s. By that time there are more SKS rifles then AKs. But the SKS is sold off to China, Albania, Romania, East Germany, Poland, Hungary, North Korea and Yugoslavia. China made the most favoring them over the AK and using both in mixed tactics for units.

So I the end it was Kalashnikov that sucked enough dick to get his AK adopted.
>>
>>28734793
Ask the people importing.
Probably profit ratio.
They can get surplus SKSes for $50-$100 and jack them up to $350-$400.
If they started at almost $200, they'd probably be ~$700 by the time they got to dealers.
Who's gonna buy a $700 SKS?

Don't be a faggot.
>>
>>28734859

>>28734807
No, the closest you can get to your "has sex with a lot of women" definition would be the "too worthless to keep a girlfriend" mentioned in the article, which doesn't contradict the idea that you sell your ass to protect your face.

Fuccboi.

>>
>>28734667
then they can choose one of the MANY current semi auto rifles on the market.
the sks is neat but like with many other milsurps, its the age and provenance that make it collectible.

Sales is a dumb bitch without authority. She wrote a piece on tinder for a dying rag, and misused insults she didn't understand.
>>28735018
Don't complain about nigger spellings when using nigger words.
>>
My SKS was the most satisfying purchase I've ever made, simply because I really really wanted it, I didn't need it, nobody recommended it to me, i didn't compare and contrast with semi-autos around the same price. I bought it because I shot one a few times and absolutely loved everything about it.
People tell me all the time I could have bought a budget AR or an AK for a few dollars more when i told them I just wanted a semi-auto intermiadiate, but I just didn't want them, I wanted the SKS. I can't explain why, maybe its just the fact that its a perfect balance between traditional and modern, its simplicity is its beauty and ammo is cheap.

Fun fact; Norinco actually did do a 5.56 SKS at one point. There's not a ton of info, but one review I read a while back claimed accuracy issues due to barrel harmonics. They only made about 400, and they're obviously the holy grail of SKSes, but it'd be interesting to find one.
>>
>>28735886
Rumour has it the Soviets did try an SKS prototype in 7.62x54r, but it was obviously too much for the gun. Sadly, nothing on any x39 SVTs.

I could see some u.s company doing it if detachable "high capacity" mags and scary pistol grips and what not ever got banned for civilian ownership again. Last time they did that we got weird stuff like the wasr 10 and hipoint carbines. They would probably cost at least 700 like other anons have said but in such a senario preban weapons would skyrocket in price anyway. Maybe or lord and saviour trump will allow importation from norinco again
>>
>>28735121
...do you have any idea how much shit you need to get in an SKS bolt before it's gummed up enough that the pin is stuck forward sufficiently to slamfire?

It's a lot. Not "leaving the gun dirty for a few weeks or even months" a lot, "never cleaned the cosmoline out of the bolt then shot corrosive anmo without cleaning for years" a lot.

Outside of the initial cleaning when I first bought mine 7 years ago, I've never dissasembled the bolt on my SKS to clean the firing pin. Just spray some CLP in there and wiggle the pin around. Problem solved.

SKS slam-firing is a sure sign that of a fucking idiot operator.
>>
So I've owned an sks for six months now and just finally figured out about loading it upside down with the bolt closed. It's not faster than using strippers, but it beats hand loading from the top.

Why didn't you sks fags tell me this before?
>>
>>28737182

Source? Doesn't make sense considering an SKS is essentially a scaled down hybrid of an AVS-36 (x54r) and a PTRS (14.5mm). I'd think that it would be more than capable of handling x54r. Perhaps it was just a change in doctrine that precluded the design/production of an SKS auto nugget.

>>
>>28745786
Bizarre. Most handguns have higher capacity, can those SKS's at least be fitted with magazines that have the capacity of common hanguns? Now, then they might be okay with burstfire, though supposedly the rate of fire of those SKS's was low, so maybe with a bit of restraint they wouldn't get depleted right away?
