>the I swear I'm not a shill and this is the first time I've made this thread edition

I'm seriously considering getting a hi-point because I believe I can get what I want for about $100. I have my mind made up between the .45 and the .40.

Here is why:
>9mm is out because it's max magazine size (10 rounds) is same as the .40, and if that's the case I might as well go with the "potential" advantages the .40 could have over 9mm in this instance

>.45 has even more "potential" advantage per shot than either other caliber
>.45 is limited to 9 round magazine
>big ass heavy as fuck hi-points would actually make some sense with a bigger round

So in this specific situation, given the above, what do you say is the better caliber? This could be a CCW, purse gun, and HD.
>>
>>28732241
.45 always wins

And I kinda want one too
>>
>>28732241
Go and shoot both. Whichever one you're more comfortable and better shooting with is the better option.

Now. Get ready for the 9mm vs .45 debate.
>>
>>28732241
its been said time and time again. If you need a gun really fucking fast and can't afford anything else then buy your nogpoint otherwise save your shekels and buy a used glock from a prawn shop.

I guess they both come with lolasers on them too. I doubt they're worth a shit, but I'd like to be surprised.

Anyone know if there are any hi-points in a more powerful round than .45 acp? Seem the way to go if you got a lowcap brickgun.
>>
Do it, faggot. Hi Points are the most American of firearms: they're loud, ugly, overweight, cheap and can be counted on to harm people

You don't understand, I hasguns already, even the lowly but mythical glock.

Thing is, I've never had a cheap ass but working little gun. My ak is a fucking heirloom, my ar cost a months salary when I got it and I've had it long enough that its family. My glock is a gift I'd hate to lose, and my other guns are all important to me. I had some old pos guns, but they were pos because they were dangerous to use or just didn't work. Got rid of them, couldn't even trust them after a fix.

These pos hi-points though are not dangerous to shoot at the range at least, and I guess I'm eating the shit up about the warranty some too.
I understand them thoroughly because their simple as fuck, cheap enough to not worry about fucking up. Lastly I kinda feel stupid to feel, but i missed out on cheap handfuns like macaronnis and handnugs, these hi-points are american makarovs as I see it. I want to get one, treat it fairly but work it, get/make nice(workable) wood grips maybe over time, do what I can do improve its function without rebuilding it.

I think in time I'll end up treasuring the little trash gun like some of you love your maks. That is, if I don't lose it. But lol can easily get more.

Can't speak for the pistols but my 995 carbine is a reliable champ. Eats up any ammo I feed it, accurate as fuck (1.5" groups at 75 yards with stock sights). Good truck gun in my opinion.

>.45 carbine under 500 bucks
Why would you even fucking want this? Even if was a sig brand sig .45 carbine for $400? Why?

Just get a real carbine caliber you are much closer to proper carbine prices here than the price diff with hi-points pistols. And the difference between a real carbine and a long hi-point pistol carbine in shit pistol caliber is alot more glaring than the difference between a hi-point pistol and a regular pistol.

I guess I'm just saying I see the value and draw of the pistol line, but not the carbine line. AT. ALL.

ALSO
>long gun
>single stacked pistol capacity or wildly space inefficient long mags/drums

Versus
>any other normal carbine has a vastly better magazine situation
>>
>>28732487
Is that safe with all 10mm loads?

>>28732631
Pistol caliber carbines are less likely to kill your neighbors than rifle rounds
A kommando might want a matching caliber carbine to pair with a pistol
Lighter ammo for BOB
Kommando may not be able to own a handgun
Give me a minute and I'll think up more reasons
>>
>>28732648
Safe as any mod that generates 600+pounds of muzzle energy
>>
>>28732728
>than rifle rounds
Aren't .223/5.56 confirmed the best all-around HD rounds?

Intermediate size weapon should shoot bigger than pistol round, or have a fuck huge round to size ratio.
>>
>>28732687
I would assume you would have to modify the mag as well
>>
>>28732508
Carbine is way better than the pistol. But I also don't think the pistol is that bad.
>>
>>28732728
This is correct. Pistol carbines are of more use than rifles for home defense.

Are there any aftermarket mags that are better than the factory ones? I don't want to play minesweeper figuring out what mags are good are which aren't.
>>
Almost bought one to use as a hammer, things are heavy. Ended up buying two magazines and a box of 9mm instead. But in all honestly high points are cheap if you can't aford a new baby, just get it... But fucking take it to the range never know if you get a dud

What's the deal with the warrenty? If I buy a used one, do I get the warranty? If you are buying it just because, are there any reasons to go new instead of used?

.45 ACP. the ammo is cheaper.

2 more rounds than a 1911 and cheaper too, the recoil will be negated by the big ass slide, but get a hogue grip because the factory grips SUCK, also if its anything like the carbine, the rail may not fit all accessories since its not a true picatinny

i own a c9 (pic related) might get the .45 in the spring
>>
>>28735722

On the pistols? tell us all the bad and the good.

Since these are so over built, has anyone seen about pushing .460 rowland out of one, or something along those lines?

good-
it fits all commercial sights and optics and vertical grips (on the cabine)

bad-
its made out of plastic that may warp and break if you over torque you accessories and on the carbines, the grooves arent equally spaced because theres raised plastic where the rail is screwed into the dustcover/upper receiver/whatever its called, also on the carbines you have to unscrew the factory sights of of the gun which is long and laborious process

also on the .45 and .40 pistols the rail is designed to be used with proprietary accessories (like the laser that ships with some .45s and .40s) so a flashlight or laser may not fit on the rail.
>>
>>28735845
Thanks. I meant all the bad and good of hipoints though.
>>
>>28733848

If you fuck it up just sell it.

Pawn shop paid $225 for a fucking Gen1 carbine from me a few months ago. They got it priced for $329 and I want to laugh my ass off at how stupid they are.

Still has the donkey dick looking ass gen1 stock on it too.

good;
theyre surprisingly ergonomic, the grips fit my hand very well, and theyre left handed friendly (>tfw lefthanded), the sights are great, red rear and yellow front, so its easier to use. theyre accurate since straight blowback is inherently accurate. the trigger pull is long and creepy but the reset is great. also theres not alot of recoil since the slide is so huge. also you get alot of gun for under 200 bucks. the warranty and customer service are great.

cons-
an 8 round 9mm should not weigh 2 pounds. the factory grips are slippery, but that can be fixed with a hogue grip. take down is very complicated, but you can clean the gun by locking the slide open and going through it with a toothbrush, and since its blowback, it gets really dirty really fast. its easy to get slide bite since theres nothing preventing your hand going higher on the grip where the slide is, pic related, the slide is really low on the frame
>>
>>28735694
buy a can of not-shiny spray paint
this stuff is not complicated
>>
>>28732728
Lower report means you might have some hearing left after indoors SD use is my argument. From what I hear, due to gas expansion over a much longer-than-pistol-length barrel, .45 out of an 18 inch barrel ends up being close to .22 in terms of noise.
>>
>>28736163
Self bump but; has anyone had experience with this? From what I saw online, because pistol caliber rounds burn most/all powder within the first 6 or so inches, the bullet continuing through the barrel essentially clears a path for the gases to expand more; therefore they're at a lower velocity when the exit than they would in a pistol barrel, and therefore it's a quieter report.
