I just picked up this beauty today! I'm excited!

Sadly it didn't seem to have the tri-rail despite being a 590a1 tactical which should but whatever, I'm sure I can get one later. I do have the clip for the front sling mount, it's just not on right now.

Now replace the stock with a MOE stock and MOE grip, and get yourself a insight handguard and a bayonet.
>ultimate in home defense
>>

pistol grip mossbergs are fuckin sweet
>>
>>28706431

insight handguard is useful but looks awful. terrible finish and weird lines

Don't be a faggot, OP. Do it right. Numrich has the parts you need.

What's a good shotgun to start 3gun with? Should I just pick up an 870 and call it a day?
>>
>>28706705

I gotta say I don't really like the wood furniture
>>
>>28706727

Gotta say you're a huge faggot.

Wood furniture on shotguns is beautiful and curvaceous, yet less durable. Like a woman, which you're clearly not interested in.

Polymer furniture is dark, chunky and hard, like the cocks you enjoy in your ass.

And polymer furniture on a classic shotgun looks good if you're an 18 year old CoD-kid who's into Doritos hunting.

Can you actually use a stock with a pistol grip?

Everyone says if you have a pistol grip shotgun you have to shoot it from waist level.

Does that still matter if you have a stock?

Pistol grips are fine on shotguns with box magazines, like a VEPR or Saiga.

Pistol grips make loading tube magazines a bit more difficult and slow.
>>
>>28706878
>Can you actually use a stock with a pistol grip?
yes just look at every assault rifle known to man
> Everyone says if you have a pistol grip shotgun you have to shoot it from waist level.
thats if its a pistol grip only and to prevent what happens at the 1:05 mark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaV629VZzzA&list=RDFaV629VZzzA#t=80

if you are not a fuckwit and have proper technique/muscle mass you could shoot it sighted without a stock

Any 590a1 owners recommend any accessories?

Need a side saddle, comfortable sling, bayonet (lol) and maybe a flashlight/mount
>>
>>28707709
dont get a side saddle they suck shit and throw off the balance
if you must own one get velcro shot cards
>>
>>28707761

> velcro
> sticky
> on the side of my gun

are you fuckin shittin me
>>
>>28707843
hate on the concept all you want but its really the only good option unless you shell out 70-90 bucks for a mesa tactical

the cheaper plastic sidesaddles cough tacstar/tapco/ati are all shit

velcro isnt permanent if you buy multiple cards its faster to refill
the card is flatter when empty since its fabric and is easily removed
>>
>>28708302

yea but... then you got a bunch of sticky residue all over the side of your gun

basically jizz all over it

I'll check what saddle I have on mine when I get home. I know it is all metal with polymer shell holders. Holds them very tight. Pic semi related, you can see it up top. It came on the gun when I got it (armslist, 1 tube of 2.75 shot through it from the very old man I got it from.

>ordered an 870 police magnum
>business called me and told me their system fucked up and I'm getting my money back.

I'm really sad but now I'm eyeing up a 590a1. Don't really want the ghost ring sights though. Should I do it or what? I was really looking forward to the 870
>>
>>28708641

ghost ring are the best sights you can get
>>
>>28708647
How is the 590a1 going to stack up next to the 870 police though?
>>
>>28708647
ghost rings are only good for a certain type of shooting
that is to say with slugs for accuracy

if you try to use em for clays they just slow you down
>>28708641
if you want x gun buy x gun dont settle for y just cause its there youll just end up buying x gun later on

i would say some shit about remshit being remshit compared to a mossberg but your not looking for an express so it should be ok
>>
>>28708696

I haven't a clue man I'm just a shitter on /k/ talking about the only thing I own. Never tried an 870 police
>>
>>28708792
Well I heard the express was a shit. I just want a rock solid shotgun. I heard the police magnum was an excellent gun so I (tried) to scoop one up. Especially because it was so sexy like anons post here. >>28706705
I don't know shit about the mossberg 590a1. I don't really want a shotgun for shooting clays, I'll probably get an over under for that some other time. I just want one that would be reliable enough to handle a beating in the woods and for home defense.
>>
>>28708836
>I just want one that would be reliable enough to handle a beating in the woods and for home defense.
either works it really comes down to personal preference in controls
ive got a 500 a 590 and an 870 its really all the same 500s are less annoying to reload
>>
>>28708836

That shotgun you quoted with the wood furniture is a Mossberg 590
>>
>>28708874
Yeah I know it's a 590. The 870P I was looking at looked almost identical.
>>
>>28708896
you only think that cause you dont know shit and every pump shotgun with wood furniture looks the same

the 870 wont have the heat shield and bayonet lug
it wont hold the same amount of shells either

go to a store hold both figure out if you like the tang safety or pushbutton

if you plan on extending the mag capacity or putting a pistolgrip go with an 870
mossberg is less pistolgrip friendly
>>
>>28708945

There's a bunch of pistol grip mossbergs in this thread and they all seem nice.

i didnt say its impossible to put a pistol grip on a mossy just that its not as nice
if youve got a pistol grip on a mossberg the slide release goes from being ergonomically great to meh and you have to change your grip to flip the safety
>>
>>28709086
That seems pointless, but I have zero interest in swapping stocks. Unless I found a wood stock. Otherwise I prefer traditional style stocks.

Is there any downside to getting a 590a1 over an 870?
>>
>>28709125

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vaa6wsw7Ts

Hickock did a video of the 590 vs the 870.

He likes the 590 more and has some complaints about the 870
>>
>>28709125
>Is there any downside to getting a 590a1 over an 870?
if you get the 20 inch barreled 590a1 your pretty much screwed if you want another barrel length
all of em are 20 inches with the only difference being sights
sure other barrel lengths exist (and are really rare) but at that point its almost cheaper to get a new gun
other than that not really
>>
>>28709188

not much of a reason to go shorter than 20". 18 maybe, but lower than that you need class 3 so... 1 shell length? Not really worth getting that
>>
>>28709229
right now your mindset is geared towards a short hd shotgun and 18/20 inch shotguns are great for that but if you start shooting it at more than dirt/stationary targets you find out a longer barrel is a nice thing to have
>>
Problem with ghost sights is you cant fit the factory heat shield on
>>
>>28706727
I gotta say you're really a cunt
>>
>>28707709
>Any 590a1 owners recommend any accessories?

Grease the bitch up. Parkerized finish seems to hate oil for some reason.

Also may want to check the barrel for rust since some 590A1s were known to have shipped with (or developed) some light rust towards the bolt end of the barrel.

Of course swap the grip / fore end / stock at will. IMO the stock fore end is hard to hang on to when rolling through buckshot, and considering the kick, you'll want a decent pad on the stock if you plan to shoot it much. Also a fore end with a mount for a rail helps if you ever want to fix a light on it, although it's a heavy as fuck gun as is.
>>
>>28709621

not that guy but I've always had trouble finding pads for my 590's tacticool stock
>>
The recoil from 12ga ever-so-slightly engages my safety when I don't have my thumb on it. I tried tightening the screw, no dice. Thoughts?

>>28707709
I read once upon a time that shooting one of these with a side saddle will cause oblonged holes on your receiver where the pins are placed. Not sure if that's true, just figured I'd mention
>>
>>28706415
>pistol grip
>that gay ass stock

why the fuck did you even buy a 590a1 then?
>>
>>28709841
Maybe you lost the detent if you ever took it apart
>>
>>28706855
>dorito hunting
Also I need wood furniture for my 500. But I have the parkerized finish, worried how it'll look because it has screeches and easier to see more then blued
>>
>>28709869
No, the detent still engages, and the safety still functions properly
>>
>>28708945
Why 870 for extending mag? Cant that easily be done on a 500?
>>
>>28709849
This so much.

I don't have a problem with pistol grips, just that one.
>>
>>28708986
fuggggggggg son

how much did u pay for that
>>
>>28713855
not unless you want to replace the whole front half of the gun except the slide. the only 500s that take easy only replace the mag cap extensions are the 590s and a lack of barrel lengths makes em pointless unless you want the extension sticking out past the muzzle

Hi,

I got a winchester SXP black shadow deer recently, not shoted it yet, I have a little concern : there is a little slack of 1mm when the bolt is supposed to be locked in the barrel, it's notr between the grip and the bolt, the forend travels back and forth a mm as the bolt does, is it normal ? It's the same while loaded.
