It's a shitty poorfag gun with very few redeeming qualities to it.

I fell for the Mosin meme back in college, and regretted it. Fell for the M39 meme as well, and also regretted it.
>>
Need to see the scope mount but I am guessing someone made a fake PU

reliable
shoots a big boolit with pretty good accuracy
cheap
if you spend some time polishing up the bolt, action is smooth as butter
what else do you really need?
>>
>>28687967
I would like to know this as well.
>>
looks like a nice PU sniper, not uncommon. Its not like you've found Vasili Zaitsev's rifle
>>
>>28688079
it's not an original though and some of the marks are confusing to me
>>
>>28687895

Looks like one of many repro snipers Century put together a few years ago. I think they were selling them for $599

Nothing special about it. The barrel is Izhevsk. To determine where the receiver is made, you'll need to remove it from the stock and look at the tang. It'll have a stamping along with a date, and this will tell you when the receiver was made.

Probably not rebarreled as Izhevsk did stop making hex receivers in 1935 and Tula in 1936, so your date falls within acceptable levels.
>>
>>28687900

Tula star, so either a replacement or a rebuild or Century took a Tula bolt handle and put it on a straight Izhevsk bolt. Either wouldn't surprise me.
>>
>>28688309
Most likely this. The rifle is worth the sum of its parts, OP.
>>
>>28688284
im not sure what else matches on the rifle but the receiver and bolt do for sure
>>28688309
i know it's a repro and the guy was upfront about it, i just wasn't really sure what was going on with the markings, how would they get matching numbers? was it force matched? I believe it was imported by century so it wouldn't surprise me if they did it
>>
>>28688079
Hex receiver. definitely not a real PU. 200 bux for base rifle OP that's it.
>>
>>28688360
Repros are generally 400-500+ these days.
>>
>>28688360
where are you finding repro PUs for 200?
>>
>>28688405
He isn't.
>>
>>28688352
It is arsenal matched. Most likely done at the Russian arsenal. Some of the parts are likely scrubbed or new parts that were stamped to match. Easiest way to tell is if the font on the parts matches the font of the number on the barrel shank.
>>
>>28688485
so if it was arsenal matched what was the reasoning for keeping the bent handle? why didn't they just install the straight handle?
>>
>>28688352

It's extremely easy to stamp metal with numbers and symbols.

Fake dies exist out there.

Also, those Century repros are going for a hell of a lot more than $200

The ex-sniper by itself without the scope and mount is ~$250. The whole package, someone would easily pay $400-500 for it. Originals you're looking at $750-800+ nowadays
>>
>>28688508
That rifle was likely not an ex sniper.

not as cool as mine
>>
>>28688539

Every Century repro I've seen has been an ex-sniper it's been built on.

Because they could throw a $100 scope on a $150 (at the time) rifle and turn it into triple or quadruple the cost (I believe they were $599 but they could have been $499, I don't recall exactly).
>>
>>28688559
so the fact its an exsniper explains the bent bolt handle?
>>
>>28687922
This the only thing I had going for it back then was it's price. Now you might as well buy a mauser even if you go bankrupt buying ammo.
>>
>>28688559
That date would have been a PE mount. Best way to tell is see if there are holes in the receiver that were filled in.
>>
>>28688603
ammo isn't that expensive. it's like 10-20 cpr more than nugget food ammoseek. I actually just picked up 340 rounds of romanian shit for 30 cpr.
>>
>>28688587
No, the handle was likely installed by century when they created the repro.
>>
>>28688706
Don't tell me it's hotshot ammo
>>
>>28688706
>inb4 turkshit or Iranian
>>
>>28688720
okay thank you
>>
>>28688729
it's not. it's surplus I got when I bought my hakim.
>>28688738
what? I already said what ammo it was. no, it's not iranian or turkshit. it's romanian. not amazing, but not terrible either.

the cheapest 7.62x54r on ammoseek right now is 44cpr for wolf.
the cheapest 8mm mauser is 51cpr for 196gr 90s prvi partizan.
>>
>>28688778
Nigga prvi partizan is expensive af(which sucks because it's the only high quality new production ammo. Good thing my local gunshow sells prvi partizan at 60 for 100 rounds.
>>
>>28687895
8 get
>>
>>28688883
51 cents per round isn't that expensive. it's literally the cheapest on ammoseek. poor motherfucker.
>>
>>28688885
good job, faggot. I wasn't even trying to get it and did a better job than you.

>>

You think that's expensive? Try having a garand.
>>
>>28687895
it can double as a club and triple as a dildo provided your holes can handle it.

Solid purchase anon
>>
>>28688935
do you not buy ammo from the cmp?
>>
>>28688974
It's still around 60 cpr
>>
>>28688979
I just came to the realization that I spend like 50-100 bucks just to go shooting for a day. fuck.
>>
>>28688888
>>28688541
well, anon, looks like you need to pass along you mosin to its rightful owner.
>>
>>28687967
It is an Izzy.

Reproduction scope, the cap through the mount hole is a clear giveaway. Probably done by century. Probably a reproduction scope, are the screws flat?

Matter of fact..

>1934
>PU
Nope. Should be a fun rifle anyway.

It ain't cheap but it's damn satisfying.

more like he should pass his quints to me. I paid for mine
>>

I didn't choose the quints, the quints chose me.
