What is your "grail" in terms of a firearm that you really want, but may never own, or plan to own someday but couldn't buy in the foreseeable future?

For me, it's a <10,000 serial number Colt Government Model in 99%-100% condition with high polish bluing and fire blue small parts.

Runners up are an original German Sig P210, an HK P7, and of course a full auto AR 15.

>Hard mode: Try to only limit yourselves to guns that you could feasibly buy (i.e, no full auto P90 or Glock 18).

A very early M1903 Springfield. Im not talking like World War One early. Im talking like made in 1905 early. Spike bayonet, The original rear sight (similar to what the M48 has). If it was still in 30-03 that would be fucking great

They're really not that expensive comparatively speaking to the non-AR 5.56 players and to be honest they're pretty underwhelming.

At least a dozen made for the testing. Mags were numbered to the gun and have been recorded as high as 25.
Plenty of .45 Lugers built afterwards as well and still companies building them if you put up the money.

Yes. I would love so much for the REX to become reality. But really the REX wasn't actually produced due to lack of market, and even if it was available to the US, would there still be people to buy it? In the day of high cap polymer striker fired it would take some really good advertising and marketing to make money off of an oddball full size revolver. But on the other hand, the people buy the Rhino. If it ever happens I'll be the first to buy, but I'm not holding my breath.

As an owner of a top break revolver, let me just say that they will fail. If not immediately, then eventually.

Top break is sex. However, it's weak sex. That's why all the successful top breaks (Schofield, Webley, etc..) were all low pressure cartridges.

Enjoy having your stirrup warp and eventually break.

The British had some of the best metallurgy at the time and yet we have consistent reports of full power .45 ACP loads (19k CUP vs the original 13k CUP for .455) both breaking stirrups and bulging barrels.

There's only so much modern metallurgy can do for a design. The MP-412 Rex has not seen enough use to provide feedback for its longevity.

All I know is that my top break Mk.VI is 100 years old this year and I can still dump cylinder of cylinder of .455 Mk.II through it with no worry because it's a very low pressure round.

>>
>>28687873
>bulging barrels
That would indicate a problem with metallurgy, there would be no reason to make a gun that is rated for significantly higher pressure when a consistent but 'weaker' steel is easier to manufacture and cheaper for the only cartage the will fire from it.

A lot has changed in the last 100 years that would make higher pressure rounds possible out of a top break and no one said that a strict adherence to the Webley design is mandatory.

Alright shitstain shitpoaters listen up.

The receiver is the same just with a longer mag well, you can use a normal receiver and open the back up moving the trigger guard with it. But fuck you bought a parts kit without a receiver anyway double fuck CNC warrior sells the .308 one anyway

Gas block is the same, so eat a dick

You can modify the stock 5.56 bolt to .308 but its safer to modify an ak 7.62 bolt. They're interchangeable and the bolt carrier is the same.

Same bullet guide so eat another dick

Mag catch is wider, stock one work its just unreliable and small
>>
>>28688214
>There's a reason galil clones mostly come in 5.56 flavor.
.308 galils are scarce because the military only used them as sniper platforms, and they had a tendency to shear off the bolts. Thanks for trying no guns reddit shitposter.

So it's not the same gun, that's what you're saying your saying right? Its not "the only different is a 308 barrel, sligly different handguard hanger, and the wafflemag" as you eloquently stated, you just contradicted yourself by saying the receivers are different. And a 7.62x39 bolt would have to be opened up for the 308 case, its not the safest to do but definitely doable. Lastly a 5.56 bullet guide is dimensionally different than a .308. You don't want to half ass a gun build. Now pop a xanax and chill, I wasn't being a dick in was saying it wasn't as easy as you made it out to be
