Not yet. And they may or may not be able to operate both at the same time.

When the mighty fall, they fall hard.
>>
>>28668748
>And they may or may not be able to operate both at the same time.

The SDSR specifically mandates both QE classes be operational and the F-35 order is by far large enough to fill both and then some.
>>

They got a life and binned them.
>>
>>28668830
It did?

That is a big change from 2010-2015.

>>

One won't be enough to stop Donald Trump if they ban him and he decides to visit anyway.
>>
>>28668911
That's not just the US's fault - if Britain hadn't changed it's mind twice about which variant they were getting, they could have had several more by now.
>>
>>28668885
Last I heard, the cost of canceling one in breech of contract and all that legal junk would have been greater than the cost of buying one, so they opted for the "fuck it, we're stuck paying for both".

Not sure if that's still the same now, but it was the last i heard.
>>
>>28668949
They were originally planning on immediately mothballing the second for exactly that reason.

The SDSR went balls deep on maintaining WAR fighting capability, not just COIN operations, so decided it was worth keeping them both in an operational state, as well as expanding or maintaining almost every branch.

>>28668885
It is indeed. Much better than what they did have planned.

Wise words that America should heed.

Because World Police motherfucker!

Also it's is a extremely powerful tool to control trade.
You see, the fact that mercantile ships can travel safely is all because of the Carrier Battle Groups protection.
In the same way, the CBGs could easily interdict a enormous area and/or sink such vessels when certain nations get uppity and start blabbering about "self determination" or such shit
>>
>>28669084
Why not?
>>
>>28669084
>Jesus America why
Because Imperium.

Rome would be proud. Actually, Rome would be embarrassed and jealous.
Roman culture permiated the western world, American culture permiates the entire world.
No roman ever walked on the moon.

Never in the history of man has one nation so heavily outgunned the rest of civilization.

Y'all always manage to turn this into a US vs UK type deal. The UK does not have the economic capability to field a navy the size of the US's. It's that simple, we don't have enough people on our island to sustain that type of cost.

I for one like the fact that it's another member of the Anglo-sphere that took up our role, much better than the alternatives.

We have an economic imperium rather than a military one.

Instead of "Pay tithes or be destroyed" It's "Buy our goods or be destroyed"

No reason to conquer when you can just make more bank with trade deals.

Plus, we have military bases in pretty much every country already, Anon.

Britain probably imported more from india than it exported to india as well.

In some ways you have, militarily y'all definitely have. The British empire was founded more on trade and our strong economy than military strength though. We had one of the smallest Armys in Europe at the height of the empire.

But y'all are never gonna be able to march around in red coats fucking up African tribes though. So we're always gonna have that.

That's on par with volley-firing zulus.
>>
>>28669531
''Y'all'' is an informal contraction of ''you all''. Nothing wrong with it.
>>
>>28668932

>if Britain hadn't changed it's mind twice about which variant they were getting, they could have had several more by now.

If Britain had gone for the F-35C, we'd have been waiting even longer. The F-35B never exited the order, and wasn't delayed by that at all. Training kept going for it the whole time.

Nothing about that debacle hurt the jet schedule, only the carrier one.

Pretty sure other nations also do that. No one fucked up the Zulus like we did though.

>>
>>28669625
When you say that all post 1776 democracies base their governments off the US model, what exactly do you mean? Your constitution? Or actual process of government. Your constitution was based in large parts off British Law, the Magna Carta and our Bill of rights.

It's hard to grasp just how much the British Empire influenced the world as it's gone. I'm not gonna come out and say that it was more powerful than the US, that would be a stupid claim. What we did have was direct control over 1/4 of the Earth's landmass and 1/5 of it's people. That's something nobody will ever have again. The mechanisms/infrastructure that we laid down is still visible today in a lot of places including the US its self. How much of the US constitution was put in place directly as a result of Britain?

Our language for example is so widely used not only because of the US (although that is a large part today) but because of how influential Britain was. I'm fairly confident that if WW1 and/or WW2 never happened Britain would have a similar influence on the world today as the US does.

Empires are overrated as fuck. Much more trouble than they were worth.

If America is going to stay powerful and relevant we need to make ourselves invaluable to the world. The world doesn't need another empire.

See there's your answer. Countries like Norway, Switzerland and a bunch of other ones can feel comfy about being fairly hegemonic, far richer and socially stable, while still having pretty nice militaries relative to their population. Being irrelevant on a global scale has a surprising amount of perks. Then again, I'd still feel good about murica if I was a burger.

Situation could be better, yeah. However the right wing (and not the cuckservative one, actual nationalist) is on the rise again, even in Sweden the nationalist party has grown from like 3% vote to 26%+ in just a matter of years. People are getting tired of EU and liberal/left wing politics.

Also some countries have ok gun laws, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland and Norway in particular. Nordic countries don't allow guns for self defence, but if shit hits the fan that matter.

I'm hopeful Europe will start sorting itself out, but it really is uncertain atm.

We single handedly reduced the indian population down 90 percent and the rest became trapped on indian reserves to be bred out.

You must be butthurt because you'd probably be one of the natives getting death camped and your irrelevant country turned into a bastion of American might and technological prowess.

Varies from country to country, I can only go in-depth about Sweden because I don't know about others.
Most gun owners in Sweden live out of cities. The most common usage of guns is hunting (100.000 moose are shot annually) along with a lot of other game. Beyond that, shooting for the fun of it, shooting competitions and the sport Biathlon (cross-country skiing + target shooting) are all fairly popular. If someone was on my property and I shot them, that'd be considered murder. If someone was about to kill me and I ran away, grabbed a gun and shot him, that'd be a murder. If someone attacked me and I just so happened to be holding a gun and shot him, I might get away with if I can justify it as self-defence in the heat of the moment.
It's pretty shit, but better than a lot of other European countries. Also we've got no 'bans' on supressors or FA guns, they're just hard to get a license for in the first place.
A relative of mine even owns a select fire MP5, but full auto is a lot harder to get as it's hard to justify the necessity of it when most licenses are given for the sake of hunting.

Thing is though, in Sweden people have not really felt a need to defend themselves for many many years, it has been a very safe and well-ordered society, but as we all know that is drastically changing, and so peoples interest in being able to defend themselves will increase. Proof of this I guess is pepper spray sales in Germany which have increased with something like 600% after the migrant crisis.
