What are the best pistol caliber carbines on the market? Is there anything similar to the Skorpion Evo? Are mp5 clones solid?
>>
>>28655058
Best would be the Sig MPX.

It is very similar to the Scorpion Evo.

Some MP5 clones are good, most are shit, all are twice the cost of a Scorpion Evo.

Honorable mention to the Beretta CX4, 8/10 gun that doesn't cost a grand.
>>
>>28655058
Not op but also curious. Any experience with sub 2k? Or is it best to grab a Hi Point
>>
>>28655058
MP5 is king, and now you can get license built ones with good warranties. The Zenith Z-5 series is better than the POF at the moment and comes with 3 mags as well as an optics rail.
>>
>>28655125
Are there any similar to the evo at or below its price? Or do you have to pay like $1200 for a solid carbine?
>>
>>28655141
Sub2k's are neat.

They're worth buying if you can find a Glock-mag version for under $450, but since lelkek only makes like 5 a year they typically go for nearly twice MSRP (which is $500).
>>
>>28655170
Sadly no, the Evo and the MPX are the only two in their genre (modern-looking, forward-mag "SMG" style PCC's). And yes, you do have to spend $1200(+) to get a solid one, since the Evo breaks regularly at low round counts.
>>
>>28655170
This guy again
>>28655188
If you want a solid PCC for under a grand your ONLY options are the Beretta CX4 or a 9mm AR. There's a couple companies making dedicated-9mm AR lowers that take Glock mags, but I personally don't see anything wrong with the Uzi-mag conversions.

Especially if you already own an AR, it's a mag block and an upper. A basic-bitch upper+mag block is under $600.
>>

It's pretty heavy, but this is actually supposed to be a good gun if you can make one from a kit. I'm waiting for my tax stamp and for a friend who is altering the bolt and FCG for me. You can completely detach the barrel from the receiver very easily so it folds up pretty small(though not as compact as a sub2000 obvs)

Lol, I guess that is a bit of an understatement. I can't wait to shoot mine. I was surprised how easily you can swap the barrel out, makes it kinda compact too, you could stick it in a backpack pretty easily.

>>28655058
The CX4 may not be the best, but it's decent. It's pretty accurate, reliable and easy to clean. Fun range toy.

>>28655259
The one I have (Canada) takes 92 mags. They feed well, but are a bit stiff.
>>
>>28656860

Your receiver looks parkerized; Is that one of the ones TNW threw together?

How's the fit and finish on it? Was your bolt parkerized as well? I've heard a ton of bad shit on them, but a comparable amount of positive reviews.
>>
>>28656905
It's actually just a TNW receiver, the rest of it is from a parts kit. I bought the 100% receiver off of GB, and I was lucky enough to meet a guy who has made a few of these and was willing to trade my trashed receiver from my parts kit in return for altering the bolt and FCG for me. I hate parkerization with the force of 1000 suns, so I'm planning on trying to strip that shit off of there and rebluing it once I get a chance. My rifle isn't complete yet because I'm still waiting on my stamp and my gunsmith friend.

>Or do you have to pay like $1200 for a solid carbine?
The used market adds solid options in 9, 45, 40, and 44 mag. Respectively, you're looking at the Marlin Camp 9, Camp 45, Ruger PC4, and Ruger Deerfield. They take, respectively, S&W 59 series mags, 1911 mags, Ruger P series mags, and removable 4 shot rotary mags, respectively. Prices off your LGS used racks range from $400-700, depending on model and gouge factor. The first 3 are direct blowback, and the 4th is some sexy action that sounds like you're racking a Garand action.

Pic is an earlier generation of the Ruger 44 Carbine modified (by a gunsmith who was told it was impossible and took it as a dare) to feed from an Automag magazine, rather than from it's internal magazine.
>>
>>28657446
I've heard that .45acp doesn't do well in carbine format. Are there any semi carbines in .45 Colt? Or do I have to get a levergun?

Rimmed cartridges don't do well in semi-autos. The issue with 45 in a carbine is that it doesn't gain any velocity from the increased barrel length vs pistols. Almost true for all PCCs, though. 9mm only gains like 200 fps. Pistol cartridges use fat burning powders that allow the bullet to accelerate to maximum velocity within a pistol barrel. Rifles just make them more accurate.

Pic is another option, JRCarbine, uses Glock mags

Marlin Camp 9. 30 round stick are available, and 40 round drums are available for the .45.

Important to note that the recoil springs were undersized from the factory, and the recoil buffers were made of nylon, which was broken down by cleaning chemicals. Replace both immediately, with parts readily available from Midway and Wolff.

Currently building a 9mm AR using a Glock magazine lower, and a .45ACP on a Mauser action.

Also, kudos to you, good sir, for helping build new plants. Literally no fucking way whatsoever to bring down carbon emissions without replacing, and surpassing, our country's current nuclear inventory (laughed my balls off when Massachusetts' last plant said they were closing due to finances +/or hostile environment. There is now absolutely no way whatsoever Massachusetts could possibly meet the greenhouse gas reduction goals they legislated in, and it's their own fault!
