Why does /k/ hate Swiss milsurp when these are one of the best price/quality rifles you can currently buy?

The K31 I own is all beat up and ugly. I'll be damned if it isn't one of my favorite rifles to shoot. Big boom and accurate as hell. Since most of the other gun owners I hang out with are fudds also, I get to showcase the rifle every time I go shooting with them. Every single time I show them the straight pull bolt they get all nervous and say something along the lines of "there's no way that is safe." While hunting with rusted .303s and barely working pump actions.

Mostly because this board is filled with teenagers who haven't even bought their first rifle yet. They don't even know the K31 exists yet. By the time they do, they'll be out of "collecting C&R rifles" (read: buying a nugget as their first gun) and either lose interest in firearms or start throwing money at AR parts.

Speaking of Swiss rifles, how are the sig 556 swat classic models? I own a gorillon handguns but the only rifles I own currently are my Yugo Mauser and k31.
From what I read so far lots of people are complaining about the pencil barrels and weight. Anyone have any experience with them? Would it be better to buy it than an Ar or an arsenal ak?

The AR / AKs has endless customization options, Mausers and Mosins have been widely produced in many countries with lots of variants. I don't see much coming from the Swisssurp side other than K31's, nobody is stopping you from starting a K31 thread like you did.

Real answer? Because they're not as famous and more expensive than nuggets and k98. I've heard they're great guns but they're not first on most people's list to buy. Usually people who get them already have a few other mil surp rifles.

Better is a relative term. I'm the US, there is an AR-15 glut, making the AR the most cost effective semiautomatic rifle on the market today. The price to quality ratio is unmatched. But if that's not what you want, it's not what you want.
