It's a pulse rifle. No way 99 rounds of 10mm or 9mm could fit a magazine similar in size of a 20 round of 5.56x45 NATO.

The way I understood it shoots bullets size of a air rifle pellet with such a high speed that the air around the projectile will actually turn into plasma making the plasma pulse the thing that kills you rather than the projectile itself. Thus the name pulse rifle.
I could be wrong though just typing it the way I remember it.

Front sight has a torch in it and blocks the rear sight. Torches go on the side of barrels, not the top.

But they still have that magic extractor business going on and the cheek rest is too high and the sight is too low
I know everybody hates Colonial Marines (for good reason) but you have to admit the design of some of the weapons fit in well with the Aliens Universe.

I thought they were just overdesigned, clunky and devoid of personality, specially in action with the crappy sound FX. Should have just taken real 80's guns and gave them a brown bess color job.
