There were multiple automatic individual weapons chambered in intermediate calibers before the StG44. It's only relevant because it was the first mass produced assault rifle.

>but if you manage to make a fucking blowback unreliable there is something wrong with you.
It looks like Chiappa went with having a fuckhuge bolt and really strong return spring making it way too strong of an action for 9mm. I'm sure it would function better if you ground the bolt mass a little and put some mildly lighter return springs in there.
It's also appreciable that it uses M92 magazines instead of some proprietary shit.
>>
Meh, its nice and all, but im still jealous of the cancuks. They have norinco surplus, and $150 sks rifles as far as the eye can see.

>>
>>28611543
I knew they were going to pull through with the project, I'm honestly more impressed with how short of a time frame it was from prototype to production

What I will be REALLY impressed with is if they make a STANAG x39 mag that isn't shit.
>>
>>28614054
I've some in the 800 range, though not in the best condition. Thai police M1s, which are made by howa and are good quality, typically are around 600-800 last i checked a year ago. If you can find them.
>>
>>28614318
They will have a proprietary mag that looks like the real deal (hopefully will not have to be down loaded like the real deal) why would you want a x39 STANAG type mag anyway?
>>
>>28614523
The HMG-44 is based of using a STANAG magwell. The only proprietary mag is going to be the one for 8 Kurz, all others are going to be STANAG Compatible. That compatibility has been an issue with x39 in the past, and I want to see if they can do it.

Also, I wonder if they would be willing to make a 5.45 version

Actual native german speaker here.
In the most literal way, Sturmgewehr translates into "storm rifle". But because we all know that's not how it works, let's have a look at the verb "stürmen", which means "to assault / to attack / to storm sth."

Considering how this rifle was applied, assault rifle IS the most fitting translation. At the same time, even in german that name has the same ring to it as "storm rifle" has in english, i.e. something devastating

Also Gewehr translates directly into rifle. A tool would be "Werkzeug", device would be "Gerät" or "Apparat".

7/10 bait, you actually made me reply to your bullshit, well done.

I ordered mine in .300 BLK because of mag commonality. I didn't want it in 5.56 and 8mm Kurz and 7.62 would have required me to get a bunch of new magazines.

As far as I can tell the x39 ones are going to use those dopey looking AR mags which is why I didn't want that one. In addition to not owning any, the curvature ruins the aesthetics for me. Also because I have a decent pile of AR magazines anyway. I might buy a few more 40rd pmags though to keep the profile.
