Umm...why? I got time to kill so let's hear that excuse. This should be interesting.

Sigs are super overrated imo, most of their value comes from marketing

I've considered buying one of the German or Swiss police surplus 226s the last few times they've popped up in batches, but I just can't convince myself that I really want one.

I have an Exeter P226 with short reach trigger and short trigger reset. It's fucking nice. I'm not going to get into W. German vs Exeter since I've not shot the former, but if you truly believe they're superior than it would just be extra fucking nice to me.

The Exeter guns are nice, but the WG guns balance better.
>>
>>28569747
No, really. Sig triggers aren't even that great. They have a nice break, but the take up is totally numb. I'd take a Walther trigger over a Sig trigger any day of the week.

They never impressed me with their reliability, either. Small sample size, but the one I get to shoot most often has frequent ejection and extraction issues.

Internal or external extractor? If the latter, short or long?

>>
>>28569957
It did, I have a couple of P225 parts kits laying around and changed the main spring out to lighten the pull. The pull is actually about 5lbs heavier. Like 17lbs DA, its about 11-12 now.

The gun was so cheap because it nearly had no finish left. Rifling was great though.

What is your favorite sig, of all you own?
>>
>>28569955
Doesn't sound too surprising.
The internal extractor was the original design and is supposedly pretty "meh."
The short extractor was the successor to that to improve reliability and longevity of the part and supposedly they're extremely reliable and durable.
The long extractor was cooked up at Exeter when they transitioned their extractors and other small parts to MIM and had to redesign the part because the short extractor was not cooperative with MIM manufacturing for some reason.

I've never really heard anything good about the long extractors and every "SIG guy" I've talked to says the ticket is to buy a Mk.25 for the short extractor and replace it with a gray guns extractor.

I used to own one, actually, and there's something about the construction of the old frames, but these guns do not like the SRT trigger kits - they cause excessive overtravel. The only fix to get the overtravel back to normal is to buy a new production hammer, so that way you have all new production firing system components.

I'd probably never shoot a p226/228 if someone gave it to me.

Is there a decent all metal 9mm for CC for $500 or under? I don't know much about pistols and even less about modern pistols. For reference I have a Sauer 38h and I love the cocking/decocking lever and trigger pull on that pistol.

Not like the WG P226s are rare or that sought after. If you got it for less than $400 it'd be a deal but those things sell for $450-$500 all day long.

I feel no need because I don't like the bore axis, grip angle, general feel, weight, and I find them aesthetically repulsive.

Well, I don't have one, and I'm not sure if I want one. All I really want to add to my collection of handguns right now is a .44 Mag, and I have a disproportionate number of handguns compared to rifles, so for now all I'm really after is a Garand, a FAL, or a PS90.

One of my HD handguns is a Sig P228, 98 dated. German manufacture.

It was actually sitting right next to me as I clicked this thread.

I have a P229 with a standard DA/SA trigger, that's why. I want something smaller for easier CC, not bigger.
