ENOUGH OF THIS BULLSHIT

SEND IN THE BIG BOYS

A big plane. For you. Why does it wear the dildo.
>>
>>28567268
So if you were to have a plane like that and stick a bigass missile in that tube like one of those Chinese Anti ship missiles, would it destroy the plane when you launched the missile?

The fuel tank for Boran needs to be transported. Shame its rotting in a forest now. Even if it was a blatantly stolen design.
>>
>>28569358
>The fuel tank
Its a rocket booster (Energia) on the Buran, the shuttle itself was unpowered.

A rocket booster has a closed bottom? Its a fuel tank.

Now watch her rot. She didn't even get to go out with a bang like the Challenger/Columbia (old pieces of shit). She just faded away.
>>
>>28569506
>shuttle unpowered
It has thrusters or manoeuvring, but not the huge engines the STS carried around Energia was the main lift engine. Energia was built as a stand alone launch vehicle, mainly for spy and armed satellites.
>energia a stolen design
It obviously was, but included several improvements.

Look up 'Energia'
>>
>>28569506
The real space shuttle had three RS-25 from Rocketdyne.

They are some of the best engines in the world, and were fed from a big fucking tank. This made the launch stack pretty easy to service, with the big fucking tank falling but the engines carried though the whole mission and soft landed at the end.

The Russian concept didn't have anything comparable to the RS-25. Instead the primary engines were mounted on the fuel tank and discarded during the launch phase. This is good and bad, as it means you don't have to carry the weight of the main engines, but you are also dropping the main engines from kilometers in the air every time you use them.
>>
>>28567268
I'm sorry but how the fuck does that thing even fly with that much weight above the fuselage? I get that the tank is not full but even empty it has to weight 25000 lbs. Doesn't that fuck with the aerodynamics?
>>
>>28570104
As long as the weight is distributed and placed correctly in relation to the aircraft's center of gravity, then all they have to really worry about is having the thrust to overcome the aerodynamic drag. If a 747 can carry a space shuttle on top, why couldn't something else carry a simple cylinder?
>>
>>28570125
I should add that that comment is under the assumption that the aircraft has the capability to lift the weight of the object in general
>>
>>28570125
That plane just looks a lot smaller than a 747. Looks like there's less lift surface to it

It can lift over 100,000lbs
>>
>>28570104
You just center the mass right and you'll be fine. Besides, the plane has fuckhuge forward wings.
>>
>>28570155
This. empty weight is ~167,000 lb and the max takeoff weight is ~432,000 lb. It may not look like it, but chances are the design of the wings and thrust of the engines combines to make it quite hardy. It was a bomber, after all.

IIRC it wasn't that Soviet landing gear tech sucked, it was that Soviet runways were shit and cracked under the weight

So they needed more wheels to distribute it
