Hey. Never concealed carried before but I was wondering if there are modern single shot only revolvers that you can carry hammer down on an empty chamber?

Does anyone do this?
>>
>>28529657
Is a Ruger Blackhawk modern enough for you?
>>
>>28529664
I don't know much about them but have heard good things, mainly only ever seen the one chambered for .454 Cassul (sp?)

I wasn't even aware they were available in a size remotely concealable.
>>
>>28529672
Vertical shoulder holster.
Count your shots better than the other guy.
>>
>>28529684
I guess the Blackhawk is too big for appendix or just any inside waistband carry?

The vertical holster would only work if I wore a jacket, which I do depending on the weather, but I tend to take it off often.
>>
Why would you do this?
>>
>>28529695
Then accept being very conspicuous or pick a different firearm. Were in the golden age of personal arms technology and we have a lot of options.
>>
>>28529703
It seems like a very easy and safe way to get into conceal carry, and I've always liked firearms.

Also I would be down for carrying a non modern firearm as well, I shouldn't have put that in the op.
>>
>>28529720
*always liked revolvers

I'm fucking up today
>>
>>28529720
Some repro blackpower revolvers have notches between the nipples so you can run a full cylinder.
They are also quite large and heavy, for the most part.
>>
>>28529739
Yeah definitely not going to conceal carry a percussion cap black powder pistol though lol
>>
>>28529657
Bit costly but look at one of these:
http://www.uberti.com/top-break-revolver
>>
>>28529766
Oh yeah I have its what's in the pic in the op.

Just was unsure about the durability of a top break. If I got a revolver that expensive though I would likely get another gun for cc, it's just too gorgeous.
>>
>>28529783
Then I would say look at some of these: http://www.ruger.com/products/newModelBlackhawk/overview.html
http://www.ruger.com/products/vaquero/overview.html
I remember in here someone said the best revolver they ever owned or shot was the single action super blackhawk. Also if you want one like those but double action look under redhawk.

Also found these and it seems up your alley: http://www.uberti.com/army-conversion-navy-conversion-and-open-top-revolvers
And they only seem too be 540-570ish as well.
>>
>>28529801
I just wonder how impractical it is to carry one.

Maybe I should just drop the idea of CC a revolver and just get a XD or something and get a revolver for fun like the Blackhawk or something like this:>>28529825

There's a lot of good cc revolvers, and you can cc some big ones if you use a shoulder strap holster. Also that site in some other sections had some good small ones, if you like a more classic and less modern design revolver, there's a lot of great small smith and Wesson revolvers you can find used or get some of the classic style new productions they do, also look at the red and black hawk rugers, a good bit of them come with a small barrel. Also look up a charter arms bulldog, comes in .44 though.
>>
>>28529657
>single shot
>revolvers

Wat?

Do you mean single-action? If so, then yes, because pretty much every revolver ever made can be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber and you have an assload of lurking to do.
>>
>>28529955
I did mean single action, and I specifically said that meaning I didn't want double action.
>>
>>28529961
http://www.uberti.com/birds-head-revolver
http://www.uberti.com/1873-single-action-cattleman-revolvers
Both of these seem pretty great for single action, cc, and fun too shoot, reasonably(for the most part) and you get too pick what caliber you want them in for most models.
>>
>>28530010
*Reasonably priced.
>>
>>28529761
Yet you'll carry a single action revolver, so much better.
>>
>>28530010
>>28530027
I really like those.

As a side note what do people here think in general about carrying revolvers? Especially ones modeled after older ones.

Obviously I'm new to all this, I could use some opinions.
>>
>>28530045
I don't heard a lot of people carrying single action ones, but there's a good bit of love(and hate) for them here. Normally what you hear for carry are smaller ones, like a LCR, new and old s&w's, colt detetive revolvers etc, and SP/GP rugers. People generally don't like Taurus but some do.
>>
>>28530042
Im open to advice and suggestions as a newish shooter wanting to get into carry.

I have only ever really shot .22 and .22 magnum extensively.
>>
>>28530066
Yeah, a single action revolver is not something you want for self defense. If you're really dead set on a revolver, look at this: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_764936_-1_757768_757767_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y
If safety is a concern for you then have no fear as the trigger pull on double action revolvers is pretty long and heavy. It'd be really, really hard for this to go off in a holster while you're carrying it.
>>
>>28530066
One thing I wonder is why you want a single action? Most double actions(other than things like a LCR) let you shoot single action but with the advantage of being able too not cock the hammer with each shot.
>>
>>28530074
Im not dead set on a revolver, I actually don't really like the look of the concealed hammer ones personally.

If I don't get a carry revolver I'll probably just get the Uberti cattleman or something anyway and just use it for fun.
>>
>>28530081
I thought I would feel more comfortable with the single action on an empty chamber. Safer.
>>
>>28530045
I think a semi-auto is the better option for most use cases, though the chance that the advantages of a semi-auto will be of use to you will be little enough that fun or enjoyment shouldn't be dismissed as a factor in what weapons you own.

I would say find a small smith and Wesson classic style, used or new, http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757903_-1_757767_757751_image

Hammer down on a loaded chamber isn't an issue with modern revolvers, it was a problem in the days of fixed firing pins. You are looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
>>
>>28530100
I like the model 27 4" .357 but I would have to find a very good used price or something because that's real expensive.
>>
>>28530042
It literally is so much better. Your idea was just shitty.

You could and will see a lot of old models of that and there other ones in most gun shops and probably a decent bit of pawn shops or look on gunbroker and use the guide on finding a used revolver. Also been on the look out for old colt revolvers, those are really great if you find a good one.
>>
>>28530139
I'm sure old police model 10s are probably pretty cheap. I really don't think I will like the cartridge much but it could be worth getting and probably way cheaper than some of my other options.
>>
>>28530105
I know about transfer bars and all that, it's just a piece of mind thing mainly.
>>
>>28530074

Working on my LTC in MA at the moment. Been thinking about that little concealed hammer S&W. Any downsides to it besides the capacity? What exactly would I have to worry about while concealed carrying?

BATFE plz go.

Also, I don't think there are any modern top breaks out that aren't single action, which is a shame becasue they are sexy as fuck. Well, there is that one company who made that .357 Webley clone that's like $10,000 but fuck that.

Sadly, yes. He did not like the idea of a double action revolver with the hammer on an empty chamber. He seriously thought that an auto should use a dummy trigger pull as a safety.

It was a dark day on /k/.
>>
>>28533775
I am sorry, a double action with an empty chamber next in line. My bad.

Pick one.

I think Forgotten Weapons has a vid on a rifle that actually has that. Or at least, a trigger pull as a bolt release.
>>
>>28529657
get a S&W model 10

they are great guns, if it has to be CC to the max, go for a 442, 638, or anything J framed

a model 12 would be also great

I think this is perfect for you, it fires .22 magnum and you can even put the hammer in between cylinders not just on an empty chamber and it is single action only and you can literally carry it under your hat and no one would be the wiser.

This is literally the most amount of safeties on a revolver you could literally ask for all the while making it easy to use in a stressful situation and giving you a 0% chance of a ND.

If you bitch about the caliber even though this firearm fits your safe space criteria and delivers on all of what you and asked and then some you are a faggot pussy that is so scared of a ND that you should just buy some mace to protect yourself with and get castrated.

Maybe have a look at the H&K P7, you might find the safety interesting.

I don't think that's a terrible idea for a form of safety desu.

Today I learned Ruger Blackhawks can chamber .30 carbine
