for hard targets, light tanks with 120mm autoloaded main guns. basically leclerc on steroids.
infantry support = tons of repurposed SPAAG. every army is completely mechanized and every vehicle has some form of high-calibre weapon.
standard riflemen use OICW or some mag loaded semi auto grenade launcher. soldiers are heavily armed because mobility isn't a concern; they're mostly present to protect their vehicle's blind spots from the little cunts.
also over the horizon fire support with cluster munitions to overwhelm with the lasers.
I fucking love muv luv.

Bugs and mammals have different chemical receptors for their nervousness systems. Raid can harm a human, but it kills ants on contact. IDK is the reverse is true for ants and VX.

We could easily make them. Get a dead alien monster, get some nerves and figure out what blocks them. Chemicals weapons and most medications are molecular keys that get jammed in the right molecular lock to keep it open or keep it closed.

It really is a good example of the disgusting sort of circlejerk japs like to fantasize about. They're a sick people.

Still, the impossible physics and biology defying ayy lmaos considered, Humanity has such a terrifying command of biological warfare that I promise you within hours of the faggots landing we could have a virulent strain of weaponized disease kill them off, and that's ignoring possibilities like nukes planted ahead of their advance, controlled irradiation, excessive mach speed munitions and chemical warfare the likes of which has never been unleashed on living things and exists today right now in research labs.

I know /a/ has an itty bitty hard on for trying to stump /k/ with their animu tryhards but BETA are subhuman scum, and MuvLuv is only good for porn while the rest is just not-gundam gore wanking.

I actually liked the idea of a military anime full of the regular tropes, at least in the way they where doing it. Most of it seemed pretty tasteful.

The BETAs aren't everywhere, and you don't need a military force to set up a mine field. If they have the time to organize and prepare a battle like the one in the OP, then they have time to make peasants dig holes meanwhile.

I don't know much about the anime but saying there couldn't be mass fields because of time restrictions is ludicrous even by this anime's standards, and that seems to be saying something.

The few anime directors who have bothered to set foot outside Japan and begin to grasp the actual reality of the world around them tend to be shunned.

Like, everyone loves Cowboy Bebop, right? Fucking everyone trashed it in Japan. Poor guy who directed it didn't even know it was a hit at first. So he did that follow-up movie which was basically a love-letter to New York City, and it also didn't sell in Japan.

But that's wrong.
It got the Seiun Awards for Best Media of the year in 2000, whereas in the west the movie didn't even break a million in the box office.

What so do we build giant robots piloted by soap opera stars to stomp on them? That's a load of bullshit.

I don't see a flying gribblie or really anything capable of combat beyond melee range, and they all move in huge packs. This is the Air Force's wet dream

But if you must fight these things with man portable stuff then probably give everybody SAWs or 240bs with those fancy backpack mounts. Conventional throwaway AT weaponry to deal with the armored shits.

Or maybe cut down barretts, anzios and .50 beowulf converted ARs?

40k has the excuse of 'gods' existing, and they have lore solidly rooted in the use/shunning of magic. It's gritty and slightly more based on weapons tech compared to most sci-fi, but it's not meant to be entirely realism.
One thing they have which isn't used in most franchises is atmosphere-igniting weapons (Exterminatus), and they're treated the same way nukes are nowadays (only use them if you don't plan in using anything from that planet for a long-ass time).

>>
>>28531550

The US is the only ones in MuvLuv to use nuclear landmines in Northern Canada. They manage to save the continent and keep most of the populated Canadian areas safe from fallout. The first season takes place mostly in a unaffected Alaska. Europe and Asia simply wanted to try to take on the invaders without nukes.
>>
>>28531467
My point was more that there's a set of 'rules' for how almost everything works in 40K. How the powers of the Warp work and interact with the material universe, what interferes with or enhances them, and so on. While things like artificial muscle fibers in power armor, rifles that fire 2-stage gyrojet HEAP rounds, and other assorted techno-wizardry makes a hell of a lot more mechanical and metaphysical sense than Blasters or The Force.
>>
>>28531616

They don't. The BETA are mostly designed to strip mine and convert living material like the Tyranids of Warhammer 40k lore. They use drop pods to supply military forces, not sure if space based weapons was mentioned in the lore.
>>
>>28531629
Wait, so what was the "spess muhreens" bit about then? You were saying people complain about them?
I don't see why they would, they're some of the more sensible things in the franchise.
>>
>>28524230
Please no. If 2 nukes turned them in to what we have now I don't even want to imagine what 20 or more nukes would have turned them into.
>>
>>28531669
If we nuked them 20 times anime would be real. And tentacle monsters would be raping their way across the world
>>
>>28531641
Well I meant the setting in general. Space Marines are one of the better bits, I agree. I even vaguely recall there being some sort of real life genetics shit that backs up the whole "only guys because something-something based off the Primarch's chromosomes" part.
>>
>>28531759
Yeah, Marines are 3+ meters tall, with multiple spare organs and huge amounts of muscle mass. Basically a geneticist's wet dream.
The main leaders of the Empire were all sons/clones of the Emperor, each with slightly different genetics. The different factions were all based off them, but I can't remember if the Marines ALL use DNA from them in turn (some definitely do to some degree, like the Blood Angels, leading to weird psychic links between them).
>>
>>28531833
Emperor starts his primarchproject to make 20 nearly god like beings think more Hercules type god then all powerful god) he used his knowledge from the thunder warriors he made before. After the chaos gods spread the primarch across the galaxy he toOK the genetic material to make the original spess mehreens. When each marine gets the geneseed from his chapter he is receiving genetic material from the original primarch.
>>
>>28531936
What this /k/omrade said.

To elaborate a bit (and this depends partly on how canon you view the Horus Heresy novels), the Emperor used the genetic knowledge from the Thunder Warriors project, as well as all the various super-geneticists who weren't insane that he recruited, to make the Primarchs, who were based on his genetics and powered with the warp as well. The 20 Space Marine legions used their Primarch's genetic material as a catalyst, adding to the general Space Marine template, and inclining them all to various temperaments and specialties. This is also major reason why the Space Marines are held in such high regard by most of the Imperium, in a manner of speaking they're the genetic grandsons of the Emperor.

While to further contrast, the Adeptus Custodes (who have often been considered to be super-astartes) are said to be individually crafted, which could mean a number of things but presumably it's an invested and complicated process where the Emperor uplifts someone in some way that achieves the desired result of creating an ultra elite warrior-bodyguard.

Using mechs in open field combat is still dumb as shit when the optimal composition is FSV's and SPAAGS. Mechs are reserved for going into the hive, and not used at any other time.

For the price of one mech, you can build a dozen of Sprut/M8 AGS/Tunguska/Gepard. Humanity is shooting itself in the foot by spamming expensive mechs as line units.

These things win the field battle, then once the surface is secure, you use ELITE HIGHLY TRAINED mech pilots rather than 15 year olds you picked up off the street.

All this bullshit about "not enough candidates" to allow for better mech pilot training is bullshit considering they have enough warm bodies to still deploy infantry.

Nobody prone to panicking at the sight of the enemy is fit to be put in a multi-million dollar piece of equipment.

Holy shit OP, this is too easy. High altitude saturation bombing from standoff munitions. There is literally a massive hole in their air defense that is so incredibly ready to be exploited. Literally just load up some B-1Bs full of cluster munitions that have been kitted to be glide bombs and drop those motherfuckers from 60 km away in perfect safety.

There is still going to be a literal cloud of bomblets coming in from over 60 km away, and with the stated "recharge" times and kill rates, a sizable part of the salvo will hit the desired target. I dunno, seems like a tall order even for magical ayys. The reason you have a better chance of intercepting sea skimmers is because there is little terrain for a sea skimmer to hide behind, but a terrain following supersonic missile has that option, meaning you can keep them masked long enough to negate the reaction time or volume of fire of the point defense,

so VN had no infantry and armor section? Then that gets lightly more justifiable.

The elephant in the room then becomes "who's making the fucking mechs?". Just ball-parking that they need the same amount of man hours and resources as an OTL fighter, that's 50,000+ man hours to make one, and fuck knows that mechs are more expensive than fighters are.

You are putting the fruit of 50,000 man hours in the hands of teenagers who get themselves blown up in 8 minutes. If you have the manpower and resources to build mechs, you fucking have the manpower and resources to train the pilots to not be complete fuckups.

It still comes down to that calculus though. If the risk of losing your one advantage over the enemy is too great, you simply do not take that risk, no matter how "damaging" it may be to your reputation. Military institutions pay lots of money to have pencil pushers and eggheads figure out just how good your odds are in a fight and how much you are risking for good reason: you're playing with very expensive assets.

Good thing there are ways to negate laser effectiveness as well.

Using a combination of air burst WP bomb clusters from laser diffusion range and cloud seeding to increase rainfall percentages our plan (operation dark storm lol) is to eliminate laser hit ratio through increasing airborne particulate levels. Naturally the apocalyptic scenario necessitates all measures to ensure survival so the ecological damage is a non issue. Following neutralization of laser defenses, saturation nuclear bombing will commence across effected areas until the threat has been neutralized.

I fail to see how that changes anything. Nuclear weapons are not conventional, neither are chemical, which have been discussed above. The aliens have not occupied the most uranium rich areas of the world leaving continued nuke production unhindered. The map indicates 22 hives. Destruction of each hive will be accomplished in stages.

initial MIRV bombardment will destroy the monument and reveal the stab. Second wave will consist of nuclear penetrators to eliminate near surface tunnels. If tunnels are as large as indicated by your images they will be easy to destabilize with repeated ground shock of nuclear munitions (square cube law). Final stage will consist of thermobaric munition insertion into stab and surrounding tunnels, incinerating remaining aliens.

Orbital bombardment is of course an option but not the only one

Again, payload sections for any modern rocket are highly modular (and larger than an ICBM), so fitting a few MIRV clusters into it is no big deal. Guidance might take a hit, but once again modern guidance systems can be highly autonomous, and as long as we know where we want them to hit, the onboard computers can calculate an intercept vector. The only problem is range really, and how close is too close for intercept.

I'm with the guy who said to use chemical weapons. You can make something harmless to humans that would kill the shit out of the BETA and put it in smoke grenades, bombs, bullet coatings, ect. You win right there.
>>
>>28527757
The BETA have complete air superiority with their laser monsters.

>Space agencies worldwide detect incoming object from space. Nukes launched. Its existence is relegated to an article-of-the-day about a successful defense against an "incoming asteroid", if anyone ever even gets told about it.

ironically, SHADOW (the in-universe satellite network in charge to destroy incoming shits) was created AFTER two succesful landings.

but the worst is the chinese trying to keep ayylium tecnology to reverse it.

Muv Luv have a incredibly stupid lore. nobody should take seriously or realistic this piece of porn garbage.

HURRR DURRR INVINCIBLE ALIENS ONLY GIRLS IN MECH SUITS CAN BE AT THEM HURRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>>
>>28554085
They aren't invincible, it's just a no win scenario. It was over when team human didn't nuke the first hive into oblivion. The alien mining robots have better tech and better numbers, the only thing keeping humanity going for so long is they were only an annoyance and they barely impact mining operations.

Thermobaric weapons.
>>
>>28523451
enemy with
>no air support
>no artillery
>literally no counterbattery capability
>swarm tactics
>relies entierly on weight of numbers

ok so spam artillery like its going out of fashion and shell the living shit out of every concentration of enemy forces observed

defensively just do the traditional using landmines to force enemies into kill zones with intersecting fields of fire

mechanize the shit out of everything (as almost every modern military has) and drill troops so that once the enemy is closer than 200m they can withdraw quickly and set up again at prepared lines behind them

whenever those 120mm proof rhino shits appear just hit them with a tactical nuke

if offensives break through start smothering the area with whatever gas is most toxic to these alien fucks

for infantry weapons make cheap rpgs commonplace and use battle rifles to increase effective range and killing power

in urban warfare just crack out the flamethrowers and thermobarics on their asses

oh and build a 200mm+ direct fire SPG which can just plant a fucking giant HESH or HEAT round into the face of advancing enemy formations

hell, the enemy has like no ranged weapons, just start slapping heavy weapons on light vehicle and truck chassis and line them up for the slaughter
>>
If they can create bullshit mecha that can fight the alien threat they can also create viable weapon systems that can fight them better
>>
>>28554325
Read the thread. The only reason the aliens are so successful are due to their magic laser eye ball things >>28531093
that act as magic point-defense against incoming projectiles and anti - air >>28531558

Thermobaric stuff would probably do wonders.

Why is Heavy Laser class only effective 500 metres high while having 100 km range?

Considering that, the lesser Lux class has effective ceiling range of 10 km high.

It seems the anime makers use the mohs system to define armor. What the actual fuck
Anyway, assuming the big heavy armored ones have armor impenetrable by 120/125, just do as this anon >>28554325 >>28529837 mentioned
High caliber weaponry; it's like shooting 152mm at tiger 2 / t-72s. It won't pen but shit's gonna get fucked up real bad

You dont need to deliver the nukes into the hive lol, based on images of the tunnels they are in excess of 600 meters wide. At that size and depth, even slight ground shock will collapse them (sqaure cube law)
>>
>>28552824
except the earth's magnetic field by its nature blocks cosmic particle bombardment, allowing us to live relatively cancer-free lives. I'm sorry this conflicts with your video game logic (even if it was a GOAT video game)

lasers are not unbeatable, in fact they have been beatable since before we had the technology to deploy them
>>
>lasers

Heavy metal clouds are already proven to work in-series. Combine it with grid-square-removal from MLRS, backed by 155mm SPH delivering DPICM also.

As a bonus, this defeats Destroyer-class, because DPICM are top-attack and use HEAT besides, which ignores hardness in its penetration mechanism.

Then have tanks to out-maneuver and purge any survivors who leak past the steel rain. Use some arty-delivered cluster minefields to make sure.

Also armor rating based on the moh's scale shows a severe lack of understanding.
