Didn't see one in the catalog so let's have one. Questions that don't deserve their own thread thread.

When I'm buying a gun online, like through Atlantic Firearms, do I buy it as myself and have it sent to the FFL of my choosing, or do I have the purchase done by the FFL of my choice?
>>
>>28510117
Buy it as yourself, ship it to the FFL.
>>
>>28510117
The couple times I've done it I bought it myself and had it shipped to the FFL.

From the other QTDDTOT thread, I'm the guy that had the problem with his Mosin. Turns out it was the yellow tip ammo I was using; the bottom of the cartridge is thicker than the bare tip surplus stuff I tried, which cycled flawlessly. Just wanted to thank my /k/ommandbros for the advice.
>>
>>28510195
Yes you should go in with the information of who you're buying it from (ie: email/fax number)
Ask if they will do a transfer, (they'll say yes as long as you're willing to pay their fee) and they'll send who you're buying from their FFL info.
Then buy the gun online and have it ship to the FFL

>>28511471

thats depends on what rifle you are talking about. guns like the BFR should handle factory ammo just fine, i believe level 2 (marlin and winchester rifle) loads, just don't throw ruger level reloads through it and you'll be fine.

Try to get a 5.56/.223 one. It will hold up better. As far as it goes, just a scaled-down M-14

Single stage press?

From my experience, lee single stage, a single block of wood, like a 2x4 works to mount the press and the powder thrower. Use 2 c-clamps to secure it. Make sure you cut a block out from under the press though, think of a dresser drawer, to catch the primers. That shit backed up on me.

If you want to shoot 5.56 and you can't have an AR, chances are you can't have an AK either so you're basically left with the Mini by default.

It's not bad or unreliable or anything, basically the only complaints about the new ones is there's not much aftermarket accessories, magazines are expensive, and the rifle is overpriced compared to budget AR builds.

Are Solvent trap kits legal?

My understanding is that they're only illegal when they're modified for to become suppressors, but as long as they're left as-is from the manufacturer they're ok.
>>
what are some good, informative /k/ related youtube channels?
>>
>>28513066
Alright, I was confused because of that ATF ruling from the 80's saying that having suppressor parts/wipes was illegal. But I guess that's only if the parts sole purpose is to be used in a suppressor.

If I were to file a Form 1 on my solvent trap, would it be worth-while or do they fail pretty fast, and I'd be better off buying a quality suppressor.

>>
>>28513225

I have a solvent trap. Its a microfiber cloth. traps solvent just fine. No threaded adapters needed. Just one more thing for a 3-lettered government agency to sodomize you with.
>>
>>28513131
it would fail pretty fast and the filter would be the serialized suppressor, buy a baffle suppressor.

>>28513225
um, for trapping solvent? they are ostensibly for attaching a container for catching the gunk sprayed off your brush bristles when vigorously scrubbing your barrel. it's only a suppressor when it has a hole in the end.
>>
>>28513263
Accept it's only illegal if it's modified to be used as a suppressor. It's legal to own if you use it as an actual solvent trap.
>>
Anyone got a 22/45 Lite? How do they like it? Worth it?
>>
>>28513289
ya, you stick with that. I wouldn't want to have a threaded barrel, an adapter, and an oil filter all on the same bench it could be considered a part and intent.

I wouldn't trust someone on the internet about this, I'd get a real legal opinion. Or, I wouldn't get it since the ONLY reason to have one is to make a suppressor.

Per the ATF,
'please not that certain commercially available items such as bottles, rubber washers, copper pads, and steel wool may be used to asemble firearm silencers. Such items are unregulated _until_ a possessor assembles, accumulates, or otherwise intends to use an item of this type to make a silencer. Once such an item is possessed with the intent to use in assembling or repairing a firearm silencer, it comes within the purview of the NFA...'

Unless specifically market, AR mags are always for 5.56x45mm.

if the receiver is cut as legally required then yes it is treated as scrap and anything you make out of it is a new gun. the atf however does get very touchy about old serial numbers, or removed serial numbers even if you filed them off of pieces of old scrap.

as for your other question the logistics of doing so would make it nearly impossible, you'd be better off buying one on the deepweb, then cutting the receiver and rewelding it yourself as a semi auto. it would be only be incredibly illegal while you were in possession of the intact gun you had smuggled.

Cleaning rod (or something like it) + windex + cotton patches. You can apply a very thin layer of gun oil after. Rifling is pretty hard to manually ruin by cleaning, easiest way to do that is to not clean it after firing.

That looks like... an M48, right?
I have a Mauser, too. Yugo 24/47.

Fine oil, brake parts cleaner, paper towels, and very fine steel wool are good for cleaning up rifles like that. It'll take some elbow grease with your paper towels to get all the cosmoline and gunk out on the first clean. You can also use a copper or plastic wire brush, or even an old toothbrush, when you find some gunk that doesn't want to come out.

It may be old, but the gun's tougher than you think. That said, some parts you should be very careful with. When you disassemble the bolt on a Mauser, you have to push the firing pin straight down into something when you're dealing with the spring. You have to be very careful not to bend the firing pin. Most Mausers have a slot in the stock for you to place the firing pin while disassembling the bolt, but yours does not. Mine didn't either. I wound up bending my firing pin and I had to spend a good ten minutes with a hammer and a lot of anxiety straightening it out, so be careful with the firing pin.

For the barrel, I'd advise buying a cleaning rod if you can. If not find a long, thin piece of metal that can reliably hold a small 1-2inch square of gun cleaning cloth folded in half. Put some Hoppe's bore cleaning solvent on the cloth, attach it to your cleaning rod (or your cleaning improv stick), and push it firmly into the barrel, twisting it, and being careful not to get the cloth stuck. You'll most likely have to do this multiple times before it's clean if this is your first time cleaning the gun. Make sure to keep a flashlight handy so you can check the bore when you want to.

You'll want to use your gun lube on the bolt more than anything. I never tried it on the trigger, but I don't have any problems with it. The biggest thing is keeping all the parts of the bolt moving smoothly with the receiver for that legendary Mauser action.

I spent something like 5 hours cleaning when I first brought my Mauser home.

The MG-42 was assigned with little leather ribbons to attach to the belt. Did the game Red Orchestra portray it right that you can load a new belt using them without opening the top cover?

Yea it's a M48
>5 hours
Sounds about right spent about the same yesterday. I cleaned everything, toothbrushes paper towels, oh boy the fun. Brake cleaner helped with the barrel flushing it out intally before I soaked it all night.
I had something they it fit in and was watertight.

Yea cleaned and oiled everything and it's nice and ready to reassemble

Barrel is pretty good too but a bit of Cosmo on the inside no globs but a thin sheen that needs wiping. I am going to get a bore snake for it.

I'll order a nice cleaning rod, one price nylon coated or carbon fiber.

I am so fucking excited to shoot it tomorrow

Hey guys, are there any options for the space left in front of my afg or am I fucked?

Also, in the space inbetween the front sight post and the handgaurd retainer of my m85 pap are there any accessories that resemble scope mounts with a picatinny at the bottom which I can put on the barrel? I'm thinking like the opposite of how a flashlight mount works, but instead of the cylinder body of the flashlight I'd be mounting the barrel?

I'm trying to get that "integrally suppressed AR" look with an AK for aesthetic reasons. Well and because I burned my hand on the metal of an AK when I was a child so NEVER AGAIN.

It's minimum for alot of people. It's all about how close you plan on getting to the animal. I'd have said 30-06 instead of 308 at the risk of sounding like a fudd. Gives you more velocity and a wider range of bullet weights. 125 up to like 240 grain.
.30-30, 300 savage, .308, 30-06, 300WM. And 300 RUM. Are all .30 caliber bullets. Only difference is in the action, weight and, velocity.

1 - Have had this idea based on the G20, but apparently a new-gen 10mm came out, the G40? And LWD seems to sell barrels for it. Should I spring for the 40 if I can?

2 - They're not some niche-y place, pretty much any regular shooting enthusiast seems to at least know the brand, but are LWD's barrels like, high-quality, professionally-manufactured? Or is this just some dude dicking around in his home workshop, making okay-quality stuff for 'power users' of shooting?

Would it be legal for the guy to purchase it from a private seller, and assuming so legally obtain a tax stamp for a fully automatic rifle? If not, would only federal authorities have the jurisdiction to enforce laws pertaining to said weapon, or could/would local authorities care about it too? Assuming the rifle was converted to semi-automatic only, would it be legal since technically the second buyer didn't import it?

What should I do to make the sp8 saw actually usable? Was told by a grizzly old man to take a triangular file and file them on the left and right side in a pattern.

Say I wanted to start a forum centered on modern conflicts, especially African ones, what would be a decent name?

I just bought an XD9 Subcompact for a conceal weapon. I heard that it's bad for a gun to dry fire but then I've heard around that you can practice drawing by unholstering and dry firing. Can someone clear this up for me?

theres nothing wrong with dryfiring a centerfire gun, anyone that says it can damage a gun shouldnt be around guns.

I want an M1A, yes I know of their reputation, yes I know better .308s exist for far less money. Yes I know. I want one to fill my old rifle collection. Would I be better off buying a parts kit and building it that way (matching serials is of no great importance to me for this rifle) or buy one of those Springfield ones? Mind you I just want a plain Jane rifle, none of that fancy competition rifle stuff.
