Quick question.
I've already been through MEPS, took the ASVAB, already signed my contract with the Corps, etc.
But just how much poon will I get as a Marine?
I'm joining because it's something I've always wanted to do, the women are secondary to me, but is there a chance I'll do my 4+ years active duty and come out a virgin?
>>
>>28498305
Anything related to cav is cringe inducing.
*tips Stetson*
>>
>>28498323
Considering you're a marine, you'll be the poon.
>>
>>28498323

that's literally 100% up to you.

If you dress like a retard and act retarded when you're off post the only poon you'll be getting will be disgusting, if any.

If you dress and act like a normal human you'll be good to go. Train hard and you'll have a nice body too, that'll make it even easier.

Unless you're a manlet then you're FUKT, aesthetics or not
>>
>>28498305
there's no way that's a real promo, is there?

>>28498326
Stetsons are sweet as hell you fucking yankee
>>
>>28498305
>>28498326

Were you cav scout, though? That makes all the difference in the world.
>>
>>28498323
You will go to and be stationed at places where the female to male ratio is drastically worse than anyplace you've ever lived up until this point.

You're thinking 'well yeah but I'll be a Marine and bitches love Marines.' Sure thing, but that really only works places where there aren't a shitload of Marines. You will also be the lowest ranking, least desireable Marine in almost any situation during your first enlistment unless all your friends are ugly.

Bottom line: Military service will not solve your virginity.
>>
>>28498377
Nope, just making fun of the fedoras of the military world.
>>
>>28498271
>lol of course not. Ranger Medic is one of the most overrecruited positions in the whole Army.
srsly? I'd assume that a very small section of 68w are both upper 200s PT and smart enough for SOCM and willing to do the job
>>
>>28498377
Yes, any promotional ads or gimmicks by recruiters on 19D are lies.
>>
>>28498417
Nope. 68W Option 40s are handed out like leaflets at a rally.

It's special snowflake syndrome: it's not enough to just be a Ranger. No, you have to be a special Ranger. And since all the other Team Fortress jobs are largely fictional, people gravitate toward medic.
>>
>>28498377
>>28498428
As a former Cav Scout, I'd like to know who is actually promoting this nonsense.

My unit had Stetsons and spurs...which WE NEVER WORE.

We did our jobs. All this >hurr cav scout nonsense was un-heard of while I was in. My guess it's all pre-enlistee kids enjoying the inter-branch and inter-service rivalries before earning the right to any of that banter.

>>
>>28498549
They want to save lives.

The Army needs people to check blood pressure in waiting rooms of clinics and give flu shots.

They don't want to do that.

They join "to save lives" with their opt 40.

They drop their opt 40 in AIT or fail rasp.

They end up checking blood pressure and giving flu shots.
>>
>>28498568

Do people really dump their Opt 40's and 18x's in basic that often? Why do people join to do high speed shit and then immediately drop the contract?
>>
>>28498568
AIT couldn't possibly be so bad to drop the option 40? I assume that PT would be easy af even if you're a weenie i mean why get an op 40 and drop it at all. If you take that contract you should stick it out until they fail you not until you fail yourself wtf

>>
>>28499055
Of course it's real. The military is a big, dumb, slow animal that isn't hard to fuck around in/with.
One of my buddies got into Intelligence despite his checkered past with drugs. I was 19D (OP pic related) and we had OSUT at Knox. So many people went AWOL from basic. Another one of my buddies (a medic) got out because he jacked a Master Sergent up against a wall and threatened to "wear his skin like Buffalo Bill" because he made a crack about my buddy's dead partner.
The military is full of tards. ESPECIALLY during peacetime.

>>
>>28499639
Because if you take SF, EOD, or linguist you'll most likely leave sooner, way more slots for those than most other things. Not sure if they still get bonuses for people doing those but it can make them look better to leadership. Just gotta wait it out, hope they don't kick you out of DEP after a few months
>>
>>28498747
I would hate having to be a gangster, but gangster shit sounds tight
>>

linguist is currently at $14k, but its not about that. i just dont want those jobs, even if the bonus was $30k. some kid was on here Friday (day after my recruiter says "sorry bruh, no slots") and said he got the job i wanted that day, ships out next month. wtf
>>
>>28499766
Different recruiting stations get different slots available. Recruiting HQ sends what they need to all the different recruiting stations and it's up to the stations to fill whatever they're given. Some get intel, most just get what is needed most which is all security forces, spec ops, and maintenance
>>
>>28499793
i have my asvab scheduled tomorrow. if i go in there and fucking crush it, would that sway him towards the job i want?

if not, I'm flipping him the bird and taking my scores next door to army and getting my job
>>
>>28499812
It can help sway them, if you crush it there's a better chance they'll let you wait each month to see what comes down instead of them pressuring you into taking something shitty but there's no guarantee. And if something from the list they'll have you make comes up you have to take it no matter what. So might be better to go to the Army, they'll probably be better about giving what you want just have fun dealing with more retards and shitty living conditions
>>
>>28499848
right on thanks man, might be worth the wait.

Do ranger recruiters look for rasp volunteers at 68w ait? There's some old in for from 2012 that says they do but idk if it's still current.
>>
>>28499893
It really is, just be smart about making your list. Make intel your 1, put down as many medical as they'll let you because those never come up, don't put down the shitty maintenance cause they'll probably make you put at least 1 on there
>>
>>28498417
Ricky has said that they always need medics because if you fail socm you get rfs'd and the amount of things they learn after is immense too. I'm just hoping they have rasp recruiters at 68w ait

I'd like to join the military to gain some knowledge and experience in guerrilla warfare, maybe some warfare tactics. Obviously I would have to study most of these things on my own but I believe that the military can help discipline me and teach some necessary ideas. My original life plan was to either get into HVAC(R) or work at a lube shop for a few years until I can get to a BMW dealership or whatever, what branch should I into mates? I guess it depends, but I would recommend Navy. It's one thing to be a battlefield medic - I can't imagine much more of a more fulfilling and educational foray into medicine at a young age - but the Navy offers much more than that. We have two ships whose whole mission is medicine. They deploy overseas to countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, and respond to domestic disasters (major hurricanes).

after all that, i told him i wanted intel and the whole mood shifted. he thought he'd get an easy security forces or general technician book. so i played along withhis linguist spiel, scheduled ASVAB (tomorrow morning) and was on the phone with army recruiter almost the same second i left the AF office.
now that i met with another branch, i've got her attention again, she informs me that they DO have Intel available, when can i sign the papers? i told her i'm going to take the test, give him another chance, and if he tries to play games and not get me what i want, we'll talk

Hey /meg/, I want to stop being such a disorganized pussy. I managed to get /fit/, but the rest of my life is still a shambles. I thought, 'Why not join the military'?

Here's a good rule of thumb about the military: Any soldier who describes his MOS as "basically 'x'" where 'x' is a different MOS is ashamed of his job. You meet tons of Cav who describe themselves as "basically infantry". That means they are riding on the coattails of the job the want be/think they are.

>hurr Cav meme

I have literally never once heard anyone in Cav describe their job as "basically like" anything, least of all infantry.
Someone really should tell the infantry guys that Cav has zero interest in being infantry.

But while we're talking about soldiers describing their jobs as "basically like" how many dopey-ass 11brooms go around believing that they are just a few courses away from being Rangers?
>>
>>28500116
I'm just going off ricky and my own research. Medics seem to be hard to come by because it's such a long pipeline, then follow on training. No training ever stops even after the school. You're always learning. Based in the havok journal article on socm by a ranger, it's less physically challanging but it's immensely more academically challanging. It's also 9 months long I believe.

I'm just trying to find out if the ranger recruiters come to 68w ait so I can volunteer. I will need med waivers so no option 40 for me
>>
>>28500789
Yeah that, there's never any slots
>>
>>28500813
The infantry shitting on Cav meme is the same as the infantry shitting on everything else meme.

Put quite simply, the infantry has an enormous inferiority complex. Everything they do and say is designed to keep convincing each other that they aren't just infantry because they were literally too stupid for any other job in the Army and too wimpy to be a Marine.

>>
Just did the aptitude test for the adf. Finished all the questions and apparently did really well so ive got all these officer choices for all three branches. I was considering infantry or naval officer but after talking to the recruiter, the recommended fitness level required for army officer is going to be hard since im a 160cm manlet. She recommends a beep test of 12.5+. So basically going to go with maritime warfare officer since the fitness levels are more obtainable. I have no real idea what the role actual involves other then running watch of a ship. Is this basically means first mate in laymans term? Thanks.

Plan ahead before training and don't do unnecessary things.

Also realize that the lower enlisted can't see the whole plan, but have to obey the orders anyway; so they're going to have high time preference thanks to the environment.

Will having a higher ASVAB or DLAB score effect your chances of getting a waiver?

I broke my collarbone 4 years ago and when it healed it left a small lump where it broke. My shoulder works fine, but it seems like some of the MEPS disqualifies are pretty arbitrary.

It sucks because my life dreams are getting crushed by something that wont effect my ability to do the job in any way
