Kek, my dad works for First Energy and after the plant he worked in got shut down they sent him to a call center to monitor outages and dispatch line crews. The area he monitored was West Virginia and part of western Maryland, and apparently this shit happened all the time. WV was especially bad for car-pole collisions, and occasionally the residents wouldn't even report it.

Electrician here, depending on the transformer it may or may not be filled with oil. Depending on damage done it will stop working because the circuit is broken, the transformer will short and losee power, or the transformer will break down from heat after the loss of fluid and short a winding and lose power. So really the only thing that will happen is people will lose power and the poor fuckers who have to fix it will hate you.

Oh man, I lived in Sacramento for a few years, and was blown away by how often it happened there. Imo I don't think its a waste if you pay for a good school, you'll know more going into the industry, you wont look like a complete idiot to the company, cpr and first aid certs, cdl, rescue certs, and academics, you look a hell of a lot better on paper, especially if youre forst gen lineman.
