Except it's not. My brother-in-law's Glock 21SF (gen 3, .45 caliber, obviously) exploded and left a Glock logo on his palm for a week afterward.
The .40s also malfunction way more than all of the other calibers for some strange reason.

I'm actually a sig fan boy, and proud of it. I think the P226 is the greatest handgun made. If I had to choose 1 handgun to take to combat, the P226 would be it.

they're not that bad i have a 17 and it shoots great and goes bang every time i pull the trigger. ergonomics are far from the best but with the far beavertail back strap on the gen 4's its not horrible.It's not my favorite pistol though.
personally i wouldn't own a glock.
out of the 5 glocks that i've had the opportunity to shoot, all 5 have malfunctioned in one way or another (not necessarily while i was shooting them). mostly jams, failures to feed and stove pipes. the guide rod broke in one. even one of my buddies stated that he loved his glock, only after upgrading the trigger, guide rod, replacing the extractor and sights. i don't see why glocks are so highly praised. fuck, my hi-point runs better than that....and it's almost 12 years old.

Glocks don't suck.
They are overpriced compared to functionally identical polymer frame pistols made by Ruger, S&W, Springfield, etc.
If you like the ergonomics of a Glock over a less expensive gun, it's ok to get one.
If you prefer the ergonomics of say an SR9, that's great too
If it doesn't really make a difference to you, probably get the cheaper option and spend the remainder on practice ammo.
tl;dr Glocks don't suck, they're just slightly overpriced for what they are, a good polymer frame handgun.

I'd say Glocks are priced pretty fairly considering what you get. I don't understand why you would think they would sell them at cost. They're going to sell them at the price that maximizes profits same as anyone else. Difference between those other brands is that you're not going to be able to convince as many people to pay $500 for a Ruger/S&W/Springfield.
My last gun i bought was a glock19, it's my carry gun, i love it. Simple, looks great being simple, not complicated like every other manufacturer. I only wish glock made other things like rifles and shotguns. I would have a reason to buy a shotty finally.

For close shooting (the majority of the encounters your typical gun owner will encounter) it is on par with all the rest out there. However maybe its just because I've only put a few thousand rounds through one but I struggled to have as good of groupings past 35-40 yards as compared to say my P226, 92FS, or FNS.

I've got a Glock 19
Then my cousin came over with a M&P 9 full size that I think look sweet and feel better in the hand than a Glock. I was convinced I was going to buy one for $425.
Then I brought my cousins to the range and it just doesn't feel right after shooting Glocks. It handles recoil better than the Glock, but the trigger is a serious problem. I'm guessing I would have done better with it had I not shot my Glock 30 seconds before.
I think I'll buy another Glock instead.

The Ruger SR9 felt pretty good when I shot it, the M&P 9 I enjoyed thoroughly (though that had an apex trigger so I can't speak to the stock trigger feeling). and I do like 1911s.
