Are Revolver manufacturers required to install internal locks by law? Or is it merely caving to political pressure? Is it a state by state issue?
>>
I think it's only specific manufacturers that do it. I know Ruger doesn't.
>>
The same conglomerate that owns S&W also owns an integral gun lock company/patents. S&W management publicly sided with Clinton on gun locks for this reason and perhaps others, and they remain on new S&W revolvers to this day.
>>
>>28465050

Makes me sad.

Then again getting a GP would make me pretty happy.
>>
makes me glad my safe is full with older S&W's like a .41 mag M&P, a Victory Model and a super clean M-66.
>>

>>
Ruger does. My lcr has one hidden in the grip.
>>
>>28465028
Spend 30 seconds and look it up yourself.
>>
S&W is starting to re-release versions of their pistols without them. I noticed since I've been shopping for a snub nose lately, the 442 is one example, they advertise it clearly on several sites. I think they'll likely phase them out on models meant to be carried more than target shooting
>>
>>28465805
It's not. It's the same as the people who complain when the car dings at you to buckle your seatbelt.

They think hillary holes are some super unconstitutional attack on their 'rights' that they take as personal offense.

Don't want your gun to be locked and unable to fire? Don't lock the lock on your gun that renders it unable to be fired.
>>
>>28465805

Very limited reports of the lock accidentally engaging itself while shooting. Rare and unlikely, but the odds are enough to turn some people away from trusting their life to a revolver equipped with one
>>
>>28465805

It's not about the function, it's about a major American gun manufacturer (and cultural icon) collaborating with the Clinton administration.

They were buddying up with those in power so they would have people they were on good terms with to put in a good word for them when future gun control went down.

Like how Bill Ruger was vocal about never selling folding stocks or 30 rounders to the general public, and his flagship autoloader, the Mini-14, just so happened to be exempted from the AWB. (The antis initially wanted a full-on ban on semi-autos. Bill was was one of the ones who negotiated them down to a ban on features.)

If you take a look at how the thing is engineered, you can see how easy this thing could jam the action. Especially in a light gun with +P loads and a pussy grip.
>>
>>28466341

Sorry faggot, but many people, incorrectly or not, refer to all hand-shooty-bangs as pistols or handguns, and specify revolver or semi auto if need be

I bet you correct strangers when they said clip instead of just carrying on the conversation

I don't know anybody who calls a revolver a pistol. People often call them handguns because they are. They are not pistols, not that I would really give a shit if someone called it that. I say silencer all the all the time.

Anyway, even with the HIllary Hole, I'd take a smith over a Ruger any day. The spring system is better, the double action feel is better and most importantly of all, you can spin the cylinder by it's ejector rod. Ruger doesn't allow for that and its' an extremely rewarding perk of owning a Smith.

1. a small firearm designed to be held in one hand.

Its part of S&W being a terrible shitty anti gun company at one time in the 90s, and being too fucking lazy to fix it decades later.

That being said the Hilary Hole can be removed in about 3 minutes with a hammer a screwdriver and a paperclip. However that voids the warranty, and when your hunk of shit S&W revolver inevitably breaks good luck getting a refund.
>>
>>28468223
>S&W being a terrible shitty anti gun company
>>
>>28466260

Except your example sucks. The internal lock can jam, especially with J-Frames and +P loads. You know, the shit you'd be carrying for self defense.

This is more like having a seatbelt design that greatly reduces child strangulation, but in the event of a crash it may not work. It's a valid concern.
>>

a small movement in 1950's America, to differentiate between revolvers and semi-auto's as revolver and pistol has barely taken hold and certainly never established as a definite rule. even if we are generous and go with your definition the revolver was considered a pistol for 114 years before someone tried to make a distinction. 114 years. the revolver pistol was around for at least 60 years before the semi-auto pistol was invented.

Revolvers are Pistols senpai

He wouldn't care he's a millionaire (in some countries). He just insists that HK is the best gun brand, and I can see why some would think that. They're indeed high quality, and you're indeed butthurt you can't afford their products.

I tried to sell him on the FNX45 with 5 more rounds capacity but he didn't wanna because it was a "no-brand"
>mfw he shot my FNS and put a dime sized grouping on paper with such a shitty "no brand" gun
>mfw I put a quarter size group in with his HK and we wanted to switch but now I'm iffy about the obamachip being in it

Where does the chip send info to?
>>
>>28465050
To be fair, they've started releasing models with no locks, beginning with the most popular J-frames.

Also I wouldn't say they "sided with Clinton" so much as "did what they had to do to avoid being sued into a shadow of their former self like Colt, or sued out of existence like any of those other poor saps".
>>
>>28466312
>The antis initially wanted a full-on ban on semi-autos

>>

>>
>>28466312
There are worse things.

GW Junior was a fucking moron.

The kindest thing I can say about him is that he was basically a cipher for his cabinet and executive branch in general.
>>
>>28468769
The chip doesn't send anything anywhere and its installed on LE/Gov models for record keeping of maintenance and round count etc. You can remove them if you're freaking out.
>>
>>28468769
RFID is a passive device. It only sends info when a active reader is within something like 100 feet.

It probably just sends stuff like serial and model.

The slide and frame are both metal right? If there is a conductive path between them, an RFID chip sandwiched between them probably can be read at a few cm. Unless they made some sort of antenna integral with the weapon, it could easily just be for inventory control on a very expensive product.
>>
>>28469293
Considering how easy it is to clone those, I want to see some concert venue try this. As soon as it's known about, some smartass kids are going to pool together $50, order a roll of a few thousand writable RFID stickers, and sticker everyone going into the venue.

Just imagine how easy it would be to get people to wear them to a political really, if you printed vote for <insert name here> on them, and handed them out in the parking lot before the doors opened.
