Yep. He did not want to go to jail, nor could he live with a felony. So he offed himself. He had a few misdemeanors from before (DUI, dealing with stolen property and Traffic violations) but now there was a felony with jailtime looming.
You also gotta realize that with a felony on his record he would not even be able to own firearms. So he would not be able to work or provide for himself or anyone else for that matter.
