I would prefer 9mm Luger over .40 any day, but honestly, if you load up the pressure and use a heavier bullet, .40 is sort of attractive.
Of course, given that .40 guns are typically built on repurposed 9mm frames and this leads to a shorter lifespan, this practice would probably actually accelerate wear even further.
