Hearing protection for best balance between comfort, decibel reduction, and convenience (easy on and off)?

I'm looking for earmuffs or earplugs that are equally at home on the range and in the shop.

The foam plugs seem to offer comfort and the best available hearing protection, but having to roll them into a ball to insert into the ears only to repeat the process when you take them out to talk to others is annoying as shit.

Earmuffs would work, if only they were more comfortable and easier to take on and off with one hand and didn't interfere with safety glasses. What is your solution?

I like these [pictured] for outdoor ranges and Howard Leight Impact Sports for indoor ranges.

Yeah, I mentioned as much. You need to roll them into a cylinder and use your other hand to lift your ear to seat them though. That gets old quick.

Best of everything.

They block more noise than any earmuffs.

they don't. they're incredibly inefficient and only block about half of the noise they're rated for. muffs do about 3/4.
and there are much better plugs than foamies.

I have a set of surefire sonic defenders ep5 and a set of over the ear muffs that I use.
I always double up inside, but if I'm outside in an open area the ep5's are enought.
Plus Walmart now sells the sure fires so if these wear out I can easily buy another set.

vastly improved comfort when you're wearing it all day especially with the gel cups, minimized sound delay between gunshots and normal hearing. build quality is excellent.
that said, I use Peltor Tactical 100s. still better than Howard Leights and as far as electronic earpro goes, a bargain at $70.
