Have two Moist Nuggets and a Mauser
Was looking at an Arisaka or an Enfield, but am willing to take suggestions. I'm indifferent on which one I get next, but I'd like to hear positive or cool things about a certain rifle that would make me want to get it.
>>
>>28444821
ENFIELD. Bro you haven't shot a surplus until you shoot an enfield. You probably aren't willing to spend that much but no4 mk2 from fazakerley is a goddamn pinnacle of enfield, all of them unissued. That bolt is pure sex. Although I prefer no1 mk3 aesthetically; no4mk2 is by far the most solid iteration in every aspect.
>>
>>28445603
Also, get yourself a Yugo M48 Mauser, most of them were unissued and almost all of them on the market are mint. Best Mauser for the buck and its build like a tank. 1903s are prohibitely expensive nowadays
>>
>>28444821
I regret buying my No. 4 Mk I, I cannot load more than 5 rounds without the 7th and 9th round not feeding properly and getting stuck with the bolt denting and scraping brass.
>>
>>28445627
Magazine feed lips, nothing else brother. Look it up online on how to resolve your issue
>>
>>28445603
Agreed on the No.4 Mk.2, that's the one I stuck with.

Still prefer my T99 to it.

Of all the rifles from that time, the K31 reigns supreme (fight me).
>>
>>28445642
I've tried bending them but nothing changes.
>>
>>28444821
Madsen M1947 is a good choice, the last military bolt action.
P17's are cool as fug, its essentially a 30-06 Enfield.
But Lee Enfield are 10/10 rifles and more company's are making .303
>>
>>28445658
Unfortunately I can't fight you for I don't have a K31 and know little about them. Is it worth getting one? Can I find a mint condition?
>>
>>28445718
>mint
Swissfags will have you know that they only exported the very worst of their stock for us. Considering that I have a walnut stock made in the 30's with 90% bluing which cost $300, it's possible. Most of the wear is on the stocks due to how they were stored.

Smoothest shooter and tightest grouping milsurp to grace our shores (also quite possibly in existence).

If you're paying under $400, it's a great deal.
>>
>>28445813
how's the ammo situation?
>>
>>28445834
I bought 180 rds from Sportsman's Guide when I got the rifle, 70cpr. Since then I've only been shooting handloads.

Graf's has PPU for 85cpr, FWIW. GP11 is what the surplus ammo is called, dunno where the deals are nowadays (if any). I'm not the best for that kind of thing, reloading and all.
>>
Get a good Enfield now before they're gone. It's getting harder to find nice ones.

Research what you want and make a list. There's a few out there but for the Lee Enfield I'd suggest either a No4 Mk2, a No4 MkI, or if you can find one, a No4 MkI* Long Branch.

There's also the Pattern 1914 Enfield in .303 or the Model 1917 in 30-06. Both are British designed Mauser actions made in the US.
>>
>>28446271
I paid $920 for mummy wrapped no4 mk2. the very same day I got it I took pics of it for remembrance and then I unwrapped it. Oh boy, I've only felt that excitement when I first had sex with a virgin

I have never experienced either of those things but would trade some body parts to have a No4 Mk2 to unwrap and own.

I already have a virtually pristine Long Branch that's just as it was when it came out of the factory, just over 300 rounds through it, but I still want that Mk2.

Oh man I'd love to get one of those wrapped Irish contract Mk2's. Last one I saw went for upwards of $2k.

Do you mean zero the front sight? The rear is not windage adjustable except on some early No1s and some trials sights. You can drift the front sight left or right to adjust point of impact, and get different height front blades if your POI doesn't correctly match the rear sight setting.

Lets forget the part about gay anal sex and concentrate on how you would help me get a wrapped No4.

What do you know, /k/omrade? Are you hoarding a crate of wrapped Lee Enfields straight from the British war reserves?
>>
>>28447041
Unfortunately not. They are getting more scarce by the day. I specifically wanted an unfucked one so I spent extra money to get one. I think they are worth every penny. Sadly, I don't see wrapped no4 mk2s to fall beyond 1k at the moment; and the price will only go up. British surpluse reserves are depleted. My rifle, batch of July 1955 is the last series of no4mk2 to be produced in the UK. Sure, there are ishapores but that's subpar stuff
>>
>>28447083
There's a big place called Donnington that has all kinds of goodies still lurking in its earthy, bombproof halls. I would bet there are still a lot of Lee Enfields there in some dark corner, along with untold numbers of L1A1s.

Or at least I can dream. I've never seen an in the wrap one here, but I bet it would go for astronomical ammounts considering that like new but unwrapped and probably fired UF rifles go for about 1.5 times that amount.
>>
>>28447159
>L1A1
unwrapped?
>>
>>28447166
Who knows? Probably in storage grease.

The British Army had Brens and Vickers in storage until the late 70s or 80s.
>>
>>28447174
Been thinking about getting a Bren parts kit. They've gone up a lot, I remember them being around 300, now cheapest I can find is 500.

I've heard it's hard but possible to restore the cut up receiver by welding it.

eventually id like all the ww2 bolts at least but you should start reloading if you ever actually plan to shoot these rifles.
Enfields are sexy and almost inarguably the fastest bolt of the war,
arisakas are one of the strongest actions ever made (nugget is just behind),
carcano m91/38 for dat president assassination feel,
mausers because "seriously, who doesnt have a mauser",
k31 because everyone wants to be a german tier rifle designer but germans want to be swiss tier,
1917 because it compliments your 1903 very nicely
truly there are no bad options
>>
>>28447215
It will never be structurally sound like an unfucked receiver. don't even bother, you're risking a catastrophic failure

you can find them in mint condition if someone restored them, otherwise no. those things were used in snow in the winter, the stocks always have water damage and stains near the butt and tons of holes from getting stepped on and poked by swissfags snowspiked shoes. if you find a mint one that hasnt been recently restored, buy it because they rare

Cool and historical. But from a user and shooter's perspective not as good or as advanced as a No4. They really refined and improved the design, adding a lot of good features and simplified the rifle. They distilled it into a pure, low down and ugly soldier's battle rifle.

The SMLE is great though, don't get me wrong. They have a lot of character, they're fun to shoot and they look awesome. If you were into using faggy expressions like a metrosexual property agent you might call it's looks 'timeless'.

I had one and I sold it because my eyes are bad and I don't do very well with open sights.

there are millions of bulgarian maks, and every other type of mak, youll be fine. there isnt a huge appreciation for a lot of those old pistols other than original 1911s and german lugers and they tend to go for pretty cheap.

i havent seen turk ammo for sale online in a long time, and when ive seen it come up in local ads or at gun shows its always been pretty expensive. yugo surplus can still be had for like 40 cents a round in some places. for non corrosive new made ammo this is a pretty good deal for just over 50 cents a round
