/k/, a local shop near me made too many 308 suppressors, and is selling them for near cost (or so they say)

They are full size, stainless steel suppressors. I'm tempted, and they seem very well made. Price is $399 (plus $200 tax stamp)

Should I buy one?

Do you really think you're no name shop's suppressors are going to be as good as one of the big name brands?
>>
Your CLEO signs, right? (Or you going the trust route?)

Also, what ya gonna put the can on?

I've got my Gemtech TPR-S on a FN SPR (gen 1) and also on a SIG LRS-2. Much fun to shoot.

These guys normally do barrel threading. It's what they are known for, and they are backed up 4 months if you want a rifle threaded. So, their rifle threading seems to be loved by the community, I'm betting that their cans aren't half bad.

I already have a liberty mystic x and a YHM 7.62 titanium phantom on the way.

I'm figuring that the titanium isn't as durable or good with heat, so I'll save the YHM for my bolt guns (22-250, .240 weatherby, .270), and this no-name cheaper stainless steel one for high-volume 5.56 and 7.62x39

>399
>cheap

What the hell, America? I have never seen a suppressor that was over 450 and top tier .30cal cans, I'm talking world-class shit like AU, B&T, Jaki etc., sell for 200-300€.

Why is it so expensive in America? I get that you have the tax stamp but why the fuck are suppressors so expensive there?

Also, unrelated question. Forgive me, I'm not nogunz, just new.

This is a suppressor that I bought:

http://yhm.net/titanium-30-cal-thread-on-phantom.html

It is a .30 cal can. Will it fit 308? I'm noticing that 308 is slightly bigger than 7.62.

Yup, that's America. Our guns are cheap, but everyone thinks that silencers are the devil, and that the mafia will whack everyone if legalized.
>>

do suppressors expire?

+1

Expire?

Once you own it you own it. The can is yours. (Of course if you purchase through a trust or non-profit there are other hassles)

The suppressor may need maintenance.

I've seen MP-5 suppressors returned that were more than 2x original weight. Caked with powder, lead, etc. The suppressor was little more than a barrel extension / muzzle weight. :-)

So, getting a one-off may be a hassle down the road.

I know of manufacturers that will replace the baffle stack. Had a couple of my cans updated by a certain vendor. Great service!

They last a lifetime if cared for properly.

That's why I'm buying so many before obama makes trusts illegal (or at least pointless)
>>
>>28444027
The changes coming to trusts are just going to make you do all the shit you'd do going the route without a trust.
>>
>>28444526
which is essentially an outright ban if you're unfortunate enough to be in the same county as a liberal shithole
>tfw too close to seattle
>>
>>28444600
But it's not because CLEO signoffs become CLEO notifications. They can't bar an otherwise legal purchase anymore.
>>
>>28444659
do you have literature on that?
they way it was told to me is that we basically get fucked in king county because our sheriff is a dick and wont sign off on them.
>>
>>28444723
it is now a requirement to notify the CLEO, no need to get their signature.

Even better. You can relish in all the butthurt he will be having when you notify him of your NFA item and theres nothing he can do to stop it

awesome, thanks anons
>>
>>28443806
People will pay it
>>
>>28443806
half or more of the cost is due to all the paperwork and hoops manufacturers and shops have to jump through to make and sell the cans
>thanks atf

30-30, 308, 30-06, 30-40 kraig, 300 win mag, 300 ultra mag, 300 blk, 7.62 x wahtever, ect. . . a .308 30 cal can fits them all.
>>
>>28443667
if you got the money to buy one why the fuck not? put it on an sbr 300 blk or the 300 blk ruger american compact, maybe an ar-10 or any other small handy 308. Use it as a truck can for a truck gun.

Because suppressors are an NFA restricted item that takes for fucking ever to get approved, which drives down demand. On the plus side, since it's a highly competitive market for the few manufacturers, the ones that are being built are highly innovative compared to what you're probably used to seeing.
