I picked up a Steyr M95 but I can't seem to figure out what year it was made.
Any ideas?

Yeah, looks like the original proof date of "1X" was stamped over, presumably when it was re-chambered to 8x56R in '36.

At least yours didn't go through the Bulgarian meat grinder.
At least 1895.
Also since we all know 8x56r is too fucking expensive and 8x50r is nonexistant here's a cheat code if yours is 8x56r
It will safely chamber, headspace and fire 7.62x54r, remember to clean it.
OP here, I know it was converted in 1936 but I dont know what year it was made. The people I bought it from told me 1908 but I didn't think so.
Also I reload for 8x56r so its not so bad for me.
I have an Austrian M. 95, I too suffer from this problem. Wish they would have left the original date marks.

>1856
Or I have the worlds oldest M. 95
The biggest issue is that the records were destoryed. Mine was made at Budapest so I assume its pre 1918.
