Are there any /k/ approved current magazines? I was flipping through gun mags at the store the other day, it looks like they are all just glorified ads for gear
The only ones I like are SWAT and Backwoodsman.
Heavy Metal is good as well.

You noticed that too?
As a kid my dad used to get shotgun news, (if youve never heard of it, it WAS basically a milsurp and gunsmith catalog with articles about wierd ww2 calibers, war accounts, n such)
The other day I saw one for the first time in 15 years.
Nostalgia came flooding back about reading it next to the fire while my dad worked at his reloading bench and finding ww2 halftracks and piles of milsurp for sale right next to articles discussing 3rd world ww2 era clones of popular rifles but in wierd calibers like nepalese made 7.5mm mausers.
Opened it up.
Nothing but ads for piles and piles of AR15 tacticool shit including one for lightning links that was clearly a sting operation.
Feels bad man.
For what it's worth, I get American Rifleman, Gun Collector, Guns of the Old West, and SASS Journal.

the backwoodsman is the fucking best
very little ads, just crazy old innawoods charlie talking about survival skills, hobo recipes, indian lore, black powder, and woods running.
best magazine to read at deer camp while sipping hot coffee with whiskey or baileys in it/10

Muzzle Blasts has a lot of great primitive camping stuff plus BP shooting galore.

Agree. SWAT is one of the rare mags that seems to have gotten better rather than worse.

Are there any archives of SoF from when it was the real Merc's magazine?
>>28431646
I have a copy from like '82 that an old guy randomly gave me. He was my best friends "crazy uncle" and he disappeared like a year later. I'll try to find it sometime.

Cool, I'd love to see what it was like back then, the real Salad Days of African wars were winding down, but there was a revolution a minute in South America.
>>28431646
I got early issues from 78 and 79 that were the Rhodie and South African issues. I might scan them one of these days but I haven't seen enough interest in them on this board.

God that looks old, makes me feel ancient...I'm 29.
Cool rag, thanks for sharing.
Recoil magazine is something I've come to enjoy, they also have branches of other magazines about survival called offgrid and one just about everyday concealed carry

>29
I was feeling like my life was over at 26, thanks for reminding me I got a few years left in youth.
+1 for Recoil.
I picked up a mag the other day in a hurry and when I got home I looked and noticed it was published by Surefire, literally 40% of it was coverage of their products. Wouldn't be bad if it was free, but they charged $7, fucking horseshit.

Your youth basically ended a year ago, cunt. Enjoy the next years of being "almost 30".
>>28435010
Yeah, but I'm NOT 30, that's the cool part.

>Yeah, but I'm NOT 30, that's the cool part.
You may as well be, as far as anyone else is concerned.
>>28435263
Nope, everyone 30+ calls me a kid, only 23- call me old

American Survivalist Guide and Concealed Carry Guide are good.
