Got a Lee progressive 1000 in 9mm for Christmas from my brother. I've never reloaded before. Advice, tips, tricks, opinions?

Sell it, get a Dillon 650.

Costs about $2000 here I live. Joys of a 3rd world country ey

I'm thinking about getting into reloading. After some math I could potentially make match .308 loads for around 76 cents instead of $1.50-$2.00.

I'm not sure where I was going with that, but either way at least it proves you can save some money. Where are you at op?

Very fiddly OP, be prepared to tinker with it...

I have a loadmaster I strictly use for 9mm. Once you get it setup...leave it alone!
>>
>>28424269
Yea if my math is right my cost should drop to about 35% of buying new rounds.

Thanks. I've seen some videos on how to roughly calibrate it. I'm just gonna have to tinker to get the rounds perfect I guess?

I haven't looked into reloading 9mm, I plan to just haven't gotten around to it. What's the load you're drawing up look like

Got some pmp cases saved up. 115gr heads, somchem s121 propellant - which they recommend about 4.1gr per load.

Fill the primer pan once the last one enters the chute and keep the chute very clean. You really need the weight to properly push primers into position. I'd also go ahead and buy the adjustable charge plate thing so you can dial in exactly the right charge since the standard plates jump in pretty large increments. The Lee videos on YouTube do a good job on die set up and tuning. I haven't had to do anything other than lube all the metal bits in like two years.

How's that quick trim working out? I'm looking at the same set up from trimming case, the Lee small press with the quick trim deluxe.

It's kind of a pain... Not super consistent and I wish I had gotten the drill chuck model... I'd probably just buy the mini lathe style if I had to do it again...
