Is there a better budget red dot sight than the Vortex Sparc II, or is this as good as it gets until you splurge for a Aimpoint?

Is there a better optic in it's class?
>>
>>28421541
Maybe a good deal on a used trijicon reflex
>>
I had dealer pricing on Vortex optics for a while through my employer. Bought my dad one of these for his AR and it is pretty fucking nice, especially for the price.
>>
>>28421541
MD-ADS
>>
I got a Bushnells red dot scope for pretty cheap at wally world. It was a while ago though so I don't remember an exact price but i do remember it wasn't too butt fucking expensive.
>>
wait until the spitfires go on sale for 150 again

No.
>>
>>28421832
Its made by a chinese company, probably in the same factory as sparcs and bushnells and lots of other airshit stuff too. What matters is what the distributors demand in terms of qc.
>>
>>28421541
Does your rifle have buis? If not then why not? Put some on first. If so then why not just save up until you get the optic you truly want?

I've got the Sparc and the MD-ADS. I vastly prefer the MD-ADS.

List a model name you dumb fuck
>>

If you're that ignorant I shouldn't even bother. :^
>>
>>28421910
It's obviously this
http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-advanced-micro-dot-with-push-buttons-and-up-to-50k-hour-battery-life/p/kt-md-ads/
>>
>>28421905

The Sparc emitter is on the bottom of the optic, it gets in the way of co-witness on an AK. The controls on the Sparc aren't as nice, the optic itself is also bigger than the MD-ADS. Also the MD-ADS has a 50,000 hour battery life, and has been proven to take one hell of a beating and keep going.
>>
>>28421905

Not that dude, but 55k hours could be one reason. Leave it on forever and dont even bother thinking about it.
>>
>>28421541
check out the lucid hd7
>>
>>28421905
The Sparc II is a joke compared to MD-ADS. It's heavier, bigger, has inferior controls, a battery life that is only a tenth as good, all wile costing $20 more.
>>
>>28421978
But Vortex has it's premium, no questions asked warranty and a brand name across the board that is top notch.

Primary Arms has admitted they OEM with Holosun, and I've only heard bad things about them.
>>
>>28422164
>But the warranty is good!
For fuck's sake, just read up on the torture tests and user reviews for the MD-ADS then, Christ. If you really think the Sparc II is the better choice after all that, you're lost.
>>
I've been using an ncstar for a while and haven't have any problems.
>>

Vortex Sparc II
>The dot that would not die

"Unsuitable at any range"
>A Holosun review
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/10/08/unsuitable-range-holosun-review/

This is why I'm skeptical about going Primary Arms, since Marshal talks a lot about his relationship with Holosun and was their de facto warranty center for awhile. His optics, while different, are comparable to Holosun and he told people to buy them since they are pretty much the same. That is something Marshal himself has said.

I just need a dot that is reputable and won't fuck off.
>>
>>28422234
The issues that plagued Holosun aren't there with the PA one. That's just how it is.
>torture test
They didn't even shoot it.
http://www.tacticalsandwich.com/primary-arms-micro-dot-ultimate-torture-test/
>>
>>28422234
half the actual issues in Marshal's review are due to the auto-on shitting the bed, and the primary arms version doesn't have that. they're different optics, and as others have pointed out OEM'ing production all hinges on the QC specs outlined by the company making the order. they're not hardset on some retarded quality grade for every single product.
>>
Just buy an Aimpoint....
>>
>>28422289

Those same QC specs are what differentiate vortex red dots from nc star or other airshit red dots, OP. Vortex red dots are also chinese shit made at probably the same factories.

>>28422257
>I shot Rose Bud from 10 yards away with 1 round of birdshot….and to my surprise, the lenses DID NOT CRACK.
>The 2nd shot fractured the lenses (still intact). FORTUNATELY, the optic still worked. The LED was still shining, and I quickly verified zero afterwards: Rose Bud was still zeroed.
hahahahah, that's incredible.
>>
>>28421933
The Sparc 2 can also take an extreme amount of beating and abuse, including lighting on fire and freezing and then running it over.

http://www.recoilweb.com/vortex-sparc-ii-the-dot-that-would-not-die-67267.html
>>
>>28422375
So can the MD-ADS. While being lighter, smaller, cheaper, and with a battery life that surpasses the Sparc 2's by 45,000 hours. This really isn't a contest.

This thing. I've had it on constantly for a few months and have gotten it hot as fuck and still ticking like new.
>>
The Bushnell R TRS- 25 is going for 65 now on Amazon. Good optic?
>>
Primary Arms makes great budget dots.

My Bushnell TRS-25 hasn't failed me either, although it's only being used on my competition 10/22 right now.

Honestly, save up your cash and buy a nice Trijicon or Aimpoint. They'll last you a lifetime, have significantly better battery life, are clearer, are made from better materials, and will hold up to more wear and tear.
>>
>>28422432
I have mine and love the controls, but I tested it out for the first time it shut off intermittently after a few shots. I screwed around with the battery compartment cap and it came back on, only to turn off again when i fired.

I really want to love it.
>>
>>28423741
Yep. Clear dot, mine has taken a bit of a beating and still holds zero.

Granted it's on a .22 rifle, but I've accidentally dropped it right on the optic a couple of times with no issues.

Is it possible to ship the stuff from US to Canada, or is it just expensive?
>>
>>28421541

Well its considered a red dot. Vortex spitfire. I don't like red dots because it seems blurry to me , even higher end models look a bit blurry to me. Just good for thought and you can usually get them for around 250.

TRS-25 has done me good, but then again I got it for 50, so if the thing breaks tomorrow I'd be fine with that purchase.
>>
>>28424764
I just pre-ordered one for 65.

I've heard acquisition (finding the dot on the target) with it is slow from a few people, do you get that?

Another vote for the lucid 7...

Primary Arms
>>
>>28426188

+1 for PA Advanced

btw have you tried extending your stock even further out? It makes the rifle even more front heavy and increases muzzle rise.
>>
>>28426280
Nothing wrong with extending the stock as far as your comfortable with, it's how most competition guys are taught to shoot
>>
>>28426937

I absolutely agree, front heavy rifles with more muzzle rise is certainly more comfortable. Plus inconsistent cheekweld works really well for competition shooting. Nose to charging handle is for retards.

Of course it is, I mean look at this guy! He can't handle the recoil at all! It's entirely because his stock is just way too long, he'll never be able to shoot fast at all!
>>
>>28422215
we don't need another Hunter 2-1 Actual my dude.
>>
>>28427181

Yeah totally dude! I mean he shot a .50BMG fast too, so I think that's the best tool for the job for every situation now. I'm switching to a Barrett for 3 gun now.

Troy VTAC master race
>>
>>28427245
Jerry being able to shoot a .50 somehow makes him extending his stock all the way invalid? You said an extended stock is bad for recoil and the only way to shoot is NTCH but Jerry is proof you're wrong. The Barrett has nothing to do with this.

People like you need to put a gun to your own head and pull the trigger, and that's saying it in the nicest way possible
>>
>>28427301

I didn't say either of those things. Reading is hard though. What I said was objective. Stock comfort is purely objective. Just because a shooter chose or chooses to put something subjective in front of something objective doesn't make the facts false.

People like you need to stop shilling for your shitty asking price of 300 upwards when way better offers have been posted. But I guess you'll counter I'm some sort of "poorfag"
>>
>>28427603

Except they're not better offers. Aimpoints and Trijicons are lightyears ahead of these airsoft tier red dots.

It's not even about being a poorfag or whatever, since there are a lot of people who have the sense to save for the best.

This entire "budget" meme is for people who have zero discipline to save or are on a 5 dollar a week allowance from mommy.

Sorry, poorfag. :^)
>>
>>28423741
The battery life is shit. It said 3k hours but it died after 3 weeks on setting 3.
>>
>>28427626
He was right about your "poorfag" comeback.
>>
>>28423761
i never got the point of buying an optic that will last a lifetime when it will be obsolete in a decade. look at all the cutting edge stuff from the 90s thats regarded as worthless now like lights. in 2030 people will look at current gen battery life and think years well thats just crap and how did they put up with only one reticle and no thermal optics look how large and bulky it is.
