I love the look of the tip-up barrel on this baby. I'd like to get a "full sized" .380 as my next gun and I don't know if I want to try hunting for one of these, or just get a PPK.
Classic .380 thread
>Tip up barrel
Why? Generally curious
Tell me it's not single shot.
>>28421122
The idea was you load the magazine and then tip up the barrel to put a cartridge right in the chamber to get one extra bullet in the gun.
>>28421122
Not single shot. It has all the features of the standard version. With a tip up barrel, you never once have to manually rack the slide.
>>28421122
Used to easily load first round (harder for women to pull back slide then pop up barrel), also easily allows for full mag +1. Still cycles and works fine.
>>28421122
You don't have to work the slide. Which is a big deal for elderly people or those with disabilities/injuries.
Or women. It's actually kind of scary just how weak the average woman is. Arm wrestle your sister some time.

This.
For me it's just a novelty and a rarity. I actually wonder why it's not a feature seen any more, since marketing to women has increased a lot since this was available.

I'd opt for a .380 Makarov with some aftermarket grips. Maybe a CZ83 if you can find one.

Thanks anons! That actually makes sense, I have seen other things that manufactureres have done to help with people that can't rack slides very well. I remember one from a few years back that had these little flipout "ears" at the rear to give you a big grip to pull on.
>>28421262
Looks like it would only work on a direct blowback design.
Most semi autos have floating barrels now.
>>28421438
this anon is right.
>>28421438
part of the reason why I want a .380. Fixed barrel for precise paper punching!
>>28421424
lol. If you're thinking of the Px4 Storm, that's the safety, and it's not very comfortable.
I want a scaled up PPK in 9mm.
>>28421101
I'm very surprised to see that beretta still manufactures the 80 series. (Not that one though.)
>>28421504
Nah, it had these hinged bits.
Googled around a bit, I guess it was a Taurus?
>>28421510
There's the original PP, but it's still 9mm kurz.
Is the High Point the only direct blowback 9x19?
>>28421504
Actually think he's talking more so about the "cocking ears" on something like the VP-9.
>Inb4 meme gun
>>28421560
Its more the look and feel of the gun but in a caliber I already shoot lots of.
Also James Bond/Archer fantasies.
>>28421537
I can see that breaking easily, even if it wasn't a Taurus.
>>28421583
I'm a fan too, it's a shame the US consumer models have always been so adulterated. And now they're made in AZ of all places, probably by Mexican babies.
>>28421688
ignore that. PPK is made in Arkansas, not Arizona. I don't know if that's any better though.
>>28421688
Yeah, that's the main reason why I haven't bought one yet. I'm holding out for a legit cold war German one or even a Manurhin PPK.
9x18 Makarovs are still the king of the CC .380 scene, though that Cheetah is pretty awesome OP.
>>28421723
They make HST or Gold Dot in 9Mak?
>>28421738
Speer gold dots in 9mm Mak
>>28421757
Looks like it's time to buy me a Mak.
>>28421792
Bulgarian Maks are ~$330 fresh from Southern Ohio Guns, come with bakelite and plastic grips iirc
>>28421805
Awww they're not C&R
>>28421838
Only C&R .380/9mM I know of is a CZ 82. And good luck with those
>>28421537
Anti-aircraft sights?
