Time to decide what kind of stock I want for my homemade .54 cal matchlock

Sounds like a good way to pierce your ear.
thumbhole mannlicher bullpup
>>28419231
Hey, that's an idea. I'm pretty sure other places would make you pay for something like that.
>>28419256
>open a gun range
>"free ear piercing with every rental"
>get the young liberal dumbasses with 3 gauges on the pro-gun side
>>28419304
But...theres only 2 ears
>>28419170
It's actually doable, and looks and shoots great. Mounting sights is a bit more work though.
>>28419319
Ohh yee of little faith. Where there's a kommando, there's a way.
Breech loading.
>>28419345
>bullpup matchlock is doable
>shows picture
>the action is on the other side of the gun we can't see
>>28419319
You've never seen someone with gauges in the top of their ear?
>>28419386
It's shit the way I built it due to changing a major design element partway through, but I can load it and fire from the shoulder without issue.
>>28419781
Breech loading matchlock?
How does that work?
>>28419781
The "match" is a smoldering punk, which is advanced through two holes by an arm linked to the trigger. the arm was too short to push the pink more than a half inch forward, and is inside the stock in that pic.
If you mix epoxy resin with denatured alcohol about 50/50, would that penetrate deep enough into the wood and cure well?
>>28419836
It's muzzle loading, but I made a breech loader too. It's a break action, and the primer charge is in a nipple on the back of each shell.
>>28419115
Make it looks like an AR as much as possible.
Founding fathers assault rifle.

>>28419905
Here's a shell.
>>28419905
My god, I must be retarded tonight, because your explications and pictures are incomprehensible to me.
Like, I know what those words mean, but the order you put them in and the pictures you post just confuse me.
I should go to bed and it'll probably make sense in the morning.
Like in >>28419905, your break is behind the entirety of the barrel. How do you break the barrel to load it if it is forward of the break?
>>28419946
>>28419945
I see now, you have cartridges which complete the barrel. What an interesting concept.
>>28419936
Neat way to get around sbr laws.
>>28419781
How big is your touchhole for that one?
>>28419905
>>28419945
That's either the cleverest or the most overly complicated shotgun ever.
What's the legality behind DIY guns? I mean so long as it's not full auto and you don't sell or give them away does that shit fly or is there convoluted laws involved?
>>28420023
Depends where you live.
I live in Canada and am building a matchlock expressly because matchlock rifles are not considered firearms so the RCMP can fuck off.
If I were to build an actual firearm, I technically/should have to get it (or the design, I am unsure) approved by the RCMP and given a Firearms reference number so the RCMP doesn't roll up, claim it is a prohibited weapon and throw me in the slammer until I prove otherwise.
>>28420066
I live in the US. I get the impression most stuff is okay outside things that involve big time explosives or automatic and burst fire rates.
>>28420133
I think the general rule is your gun should match the rules of whatever classification of gun you make.
Making a pistol? Better not put a stock on it.
Although I have no idea how your tax stamp system works and how it applies to homemade guns.
>>28419960
Yeah they were fun to build, but I've dismantled them to use the barrels for a new project. Using the things I've learned so far, I'm going to make a trio of bullpup, thumb hole matchlocks in three different models:
>"hunting" model, 22" barrel, camouflage paint, folding bipod and some really good iron sights.
>classic wood model, 20" barrel, nice wood finish, holes for the "not really an optic optic" in my first pic.
>tactical model, painted black, taped grip surfaces, laser, large, easy to frame iron sights with the view side painted in a neon color.
>>28419977
About 1.5 mm.
>>28420165
What do yo use for barrels? They appear to be copper.
I'm afraid of blowing my face off and got some Schedule 40 304 Stainless Steel pipe
>>28420133
Blackpowder isnt a firearm under federal laws. You can do what ever you want.
Dont CC it as many states consider it a gun from that extent of the law
>>28420192
So 1/16"
So I am guessing you plugged the rear of the barrel, drilled a touch hould, and just lined a carved out hole in the stock to make a pan.
>>28420218
What about black powder cartridges?
>>28420165
>>28420206
PS, how did you plug them? Weld, threaded cap?
>>28420226
Close. The pan is a little metal tube soldered onto the back. You load it with a scoop that fits over it, pressing some non-pelletized powder into place.
>>28420238
Paper is okay
When you start doing metallic and involving primers it gets a little iffy.
>>28420206
They're copper water pipe with 14mm internal diameter. To avoid overdosing on copper, I use a patch and ball that aren't too tight, and light powder charges (a .40 s&w casing is my scoop measure).
This is one of my favorites. It's weak but surprisingly accurate for its short barrel.
>>28420334
So you're using 1/2 nominal copper pipe? That shit is barely to just over a millimeter thick..
Eitehr I am overestimating the pressures caused by blackpowder, or your loads are very light and balls very loose, or you are a daredevil.
How accurate are these op? What size groups can you get at 50yards? Can you even shoot that far with the design?
>>28420334
>COPPER PIPE
The absolute madman.
>>28420444
I'm using homebrew powder, so the pressures are probably a bit less than what you're used to.
We need more threads like this. Built a few mini matchlocks for a shoebox shooting range. Cherry tomatoes stuffed with snap pops. Uses a piece of incense as a slow match, chunk of fuse sometimes and flash cotton as propellant. Fires .177 bbs and pellets, a pinch of birdshot with qtip wadding, ive tried unsuccessfully to "duck hunt" houseflies with salt. The ramrod has a lighter spring to worm out misfired/dud shots.

Interesting. You'd think having the whole heads in there would produce too slow of a burn, but I guess not. Nice armstrong mixture primer, I damn near blew some skin off my finger messing with that stuff once.
