For once, one F-35 does not carry enough payload to take out an entire fleet. Which means that Japs could employ the single most effective AA possible - tanks rolling on your airfield.
Does it get modern ASMs?
If so, it could be a huge help in putting the IJN at the bottom of the Pacific.

No it couldn't because the F-35 is terrible. First of all: Stealth is obsolete because it can be detected by Russian and Chinese WW2 radars (Source: Pierre Sprey) This means that the Pentagon is wasting $1.5 trillion per plane (Which has already been spent, btw) on a plane that's a lemon. It's a turkey that can't turn, can't climb, and can't run. There's also so much wrong with the jet. The helmet doesn't work and is useless anyway, and it doesn't have a gun/it's gun doesn't work. It also can't fly through rain or run on hot fuel, it's not stealthy with external stores, and its engine catches fire. It can't even beat what it's meant to replace, because it's a jack of all trades and a master of none.
