They somehow attached a G36 handguard (Airsoft parts I presume) to a rail underneath it. It looks pretty slick, and I'd totally do it if I had the time/money. Look for a rail that has a QD cup where his has it. It looks like he cut a hole through the handguard to let the cup come through.
