I sleep in clothes for the same reason. Jeans, briefs, socks, t-shirt. Boots and sweatshirt are not far from the bed.

Did some mild operating at -46 (Celsius). It's much warmer and comfier to sleep naked in your bag, in a tent. Leave the gear outside so moisture doesn't build up. Rifle on pack outside, outer jacket over top of all. If you got bumped or had to get to your firing position you'd be a little cold depending on what you managed to put on, but its better than hypothermia.

Estonianfag here, -15 to -30 celsius I stuck my boots into my flak jacket and used it as a pillow, uniform went between the mat and sleeping bag to keep it warmer, rifle to one side on mat and chest rig next to it.
Since I was in recon we didn't have proper tents and used our ponchos, backpack went to one end to form a makeshift wall, usually we combined two ponchos and shared the space.
Winters were not bad until the temperature started swinging between + and -, then it was a fucking soggy shithole.
