>>
>>28388058

Helical magazines are less reliable than box or drum magazines.

Sights are magazine mounted.
>>
>>28388117
Are those things that bad? Seen one at a fun show and just wondered about them.

>>28388136
You don't have to use the magazine sights. Get a scope mount for it and get a good set of sights for it.
>>
>>28388058
go home Kiritsugu.
>>
>>28388058
The magazine spring is notoriously touchy. If it isn't wound up to just the right tension, the gun is a jammy mess.

>>
I love Calicos, but >>28388426 is a better design. Cylindrical magazines are better underneath the barrel. Looks better, reloads better, more compact, etc
>>
>>28388058
No modern update. Could use a hybrid guide rail/accessory rail. Holds in the magazine more securely and allows for aftermarket sights. Maybe update it to allow for more aftermarket, incorporating a 1913 quad-rail and an AR-15-style detachable pistol grip would help with that. Maybe an attachment point for a folding stock, too.

Can you imagine a .223 version of this?
>>
>>28388058

The magazine is mounted on the top
The sights are on the magazine

>>
>>28388728

Might've spawned it, but they're not 1-1 copies of the same gun and aren't made from the same materials and don't use the same ammo.

Plenty of things have been improved through copying or reverse engineering. Just because the Rugers are good doesn't mean the Nambus weren't unreliable during WW2.

Might've been a fine design, but I'm sure if you try making Ruger pistols in wartime conditions with shit materials, shit ammo, and tight time constraints, they probably won't be as great.

This, but I have hope that one of the mounts, the earlier type most likely, can mitigate this greatly.

What optic best with 9mm carbine?

And .22 lr?

Another thing, how hot a load can these things take?
>>
>>28388058
Mags are stored with tension removed
You need to tension each mag manually based on how much is loaded, and how weak the spring has gotten over time.
Mags are also around $150
Sights are mag mounted
Trigger would give my p64 a run for it's money

My brain hurts.

I mean first you have a zip gun with a weird trigger mechanism.

Then it's got a pistol grip.

And a 25-rd banana.

And a tiny fucking knife?

I'm not /k/ enough to get this.
>>
>>28397821
The knife and the grip are there as a joke. You use the magazine as a grip. It is incredibly uncomfortable.

Additional barrels approaching the price of a complete handgun.

Still want a Contender though and a Calico carbine, also.
>>
>>28399109
I would buy the shit out of a Contender if the barrels were cheaper.
>>
>>28388058
had one. if you didn't get the mag in just right it would jam. I was told by a dealer on the earlier ones the barrel would loosen up and accuracy would suffer. other than that it was OK.
>>
>>28388058
>sights are forty miles above the barrel
>>
>>28399109
If it fed up through the handle and the magazine rested on the underside of the thumbhole stock, that thing would be gorgeous. Just an L-shaped magazine underneath where your hand goes, so you could get the sights closer to in-line with the bore.
