Is a Jericho worth the price?
>>
anybody have experience with one?
>>
I almost bought one. I like IWI, they make good stuff. Try buying one, they're not the most expensive are they?
>>
>>28382595
100% yes
>>
>>28382595
I picked one up earlier this year. Was a Isrial trade in. Mine is the full steal frame, feels great in my hand but is it heavy for hiking or anyhing like that, i havnt found the right holster for it yet. Aftermarket mags are fairly easy to get ahold of, it takes the same as one of the CZ.

Mine was dirty as fuck, after a good cleaning and oil it is smooth as shit.

We bebop now?
>>
>>28382732
I just bought a IWI Jericho/Baby Eagle in 9mm. Shot it for the first time today.
It's a compact steel frame, decocker on the slide with the polygonal rifled barrel.

Great shooting pistol. In the black at 10 yards without issue. Tight groups.
The DA trigger is heavy but smooth, which is a good thing. The SA trigger is light and crisp, great trigger. It surprised me at first, how easy of a squeeze and a crisp break.

Paid $450 cash with two mags. Worth every penny to become a space cowboy.

I don't like the new ones with the rails so much.
>>
>>28382880
Have a holster made custom.
That's what I'm going to end up doing.
>>
>>28382892
I wanna be a space cowboy too but I need to make sure I'm buying something practical as well

Anybody got an idea where to get spikes custom Grips?
>>

>>
How hard is it to find the original IMI version of the Jericho? I'm not a fan of the IWI one. It doesn't have a decocker and is just uglier imo
>>
>>28383037
is that a pick one...or..?
>>
>>28383085
Every Jericho has a decocker.
The original 941 kits with both 9mm and 41ae slide assembly parts are listing for like $1200-$1600.
>>
>>28382928
The compact versions are more practical to carry.
Not sure if springs and other parts are hard to find for the classic versions.
>>
>>28383110
no he's just calling you a faggot for obsessing over superficial details in an anime
>>
>>28383143
Damn. Are they that rare?
And I may be wrong but I remember reading somewhere that the newer models did not have a decocker
>>
>>28383167
>not wanting Spike's custom grips
>not making anime real
>>
>>28383200
They may have a pig disgusting new polymer DA only, but I do know that eventually they moved the decocker from the slide to the frame.

I think the kits are pretty rare. I'd like to have one. They are early 90s iirc.

The slide release needs to be longer.

I paid $450 for mine. Needed about $80 worth of parts and they were largely unnecessary (I wanted the Spike Speigel Guide Rod and the trigger plug and spring were only $30)
How much are you looking to pay?

I got a babby eagle poly semi compact, it shoots like a champ and its a very sturdy gun.
I wouldn't recommend it as a carry gun considering sub-compacts exist, but the trigger is really nice and i've been getting really good grouping with it.
Plus muh space cowboy.
My only complaining is getting used to racking the slide, but i got over it after finger fucking her for 2 hours.

The poly ones are actually really nice shooters and can be found in da/sa. I'll admit they're ugly as fuck but they're duty guns so fuck it.

Posting picture. Some noticeable wear from a holster (was Israeli surplus) and the red 'dot' under the safety is missing. Shoots straight, barrel was clean and shiny, a lot of gunk in the trigger spring which is why I replaced. Had an issue with stovepiping but it appears to be resolved after taking apart and cleaning the extractor.
>>
>>28390650
oh yea and replaced the grips and the grip screws (former was all worn out, latter were rusted).

How is the IMI Desert Eagle?
Is it ever a good idea to use it as a CCW?
>>
>>28391439
>Desert Eagle
>CCW

Come on, man... think with the big head.

The only good reason I can think of to ever try to conceal a DE on your person is to win a bet or something.
>>
>>28391773
Why, is it really too big?
>>
>>28391963
Only if you're not a big guy yourself.
>>
>>28391963
Well, it's a five pound handgun, which is getting into the lower weight rifle territory. You don't get very many shots for the size of the pistol. It's profile would print like a motherfucker, too.

There's a reason subcompacts and singlestack compacts have a market. Unless you're shoulder holster carrying with a big coat, it's practically impossible to do.

If I were (able to afford) carrying one, it would definitely be for open carry bear defense.
>>
>>28392009
I'm 5'11 and /fit/, so I guess I'm not a big guy
>>28392084
Yeah I understand that subcompacts are more practical, but I prefer larger calibers (and I love the .50 ae in particular). What other options do I have?
>>
>>28392334
Revolvers
>>

LAR grizzly.

>>28392379
Thanks I'll look into those.
>>
>>28392334
10mm auto, but the options are limited. Or a .44 magnum revolver. .460 Rowland is a possibility too.
>>

Is the glock 20 good?
>>
>>28392386
I was serious, .44 revolvers aren't that big

>>
>>28392470
I was half-serious about the S&W though
>>
>>28392512
What's the catch here
>>
>>28392654

the rounds cost over $2 each for anything decent and the recoil will probably give you nerve damage.

better overkill than no kill
>>28392780
is that important for a self defense weapon though? assuming you don't take it to the range often
>>
>>28392439
Personally I think glocks are ugly, but functional. If you can pack it away under a jacket, a Glock 20 with good and hot 10mm JHP will do anything you need it to.

And if you can't like the glock after trying a few, then you could always go the way of .460 rowland in a converted 1911 of your choice. It is basically a super hot .45 ACP, but the slide has ports on it to slow the slide down and reduce wear on the gun.

>>28392827
Generally speaking, the most important part of shooting in a self defense scenario is shot placement. You need to draw your gun and put accurate shots on the CNS as fast as you can. It's the most effective way to stop an attacker, even a heart shot can give them a short period to get you back, since bleeding out can take a short while to incapacitate.

Being able to handle the recoil enough for fast follow ups increases the chance that you get another shot on target. With heavy magnum calibers, you need to let your elbow swivel to slow down the gun without hurting yourself. Practice improves your familiarity with the cartridge's recoil, the characteristics of your firearm, and your shot placement. Expensive and powerful cartridges are not as good of a choice against frail people, who can possibly shoot back, when they were designed to be effective against large game animals for hunting and defense reasons. With bears, you have that opportunity to take them down as they charge you. With moose hunting, you have time to line up the perfect shot.
>>
>>28393239
So you're saying the lack of precision makes them inefficient against human targets?
Practicing one's accuracy can fix that

Isn't the recoil compensated by the firearms weight, especially in the case of guns like the deagle and S&W?
>>
>>28394043
It's not a lack of precision, it's just that lower recoil lets you have more insurance if you make an error. If you're in a self defense situation, there's a good chance that you will not be as calm as if you were practicing accuracy on paper. If outside, you have to worry about drawing, aiming, and then firing, which can affect your accuracy immensely.

And while heavier guns do give more resistance to recoil, you still need to dampen it. Especially if it's a snub nose, since a lot of the weight is gone on that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtQOL-nBc50

Skip to where he fires them. You can see that gun really tries to jump out of his grip.

There are other factors, and these are especially important in the house. A snub .500 will have an extremely loud report indoors, and the flash could be blinding. The round could overpenetrate and hit someone you don't want it to or break something you don't want to.

Now I'm not saying use a .22LR for defense, but overkill isn't always an effective kill. You have to weigh the benefits of a round that is more for penetrating deep into a massive animal than for defending your life from another person. With an extremely powerful handgun cartridge, you get less capacity, slower follow up shots, and a whole slew of negative factors for something you're supposed to train yourself to be proficient in under stress.

Where as the big three and their close relatives have perfectly fine performance with less negative factors to them.

I'm not saying you can't use a huge fuck-off cartridge to protect yourself. Just that there are a lot of things you have to consider before making them the caliber you trust your life to.
>>
>>28387521
I guess because of the way it rides on the inside of the frame, and there aren't many serrations to grab onto.
