is my gun fucked? It looks to me like the slide isn't going all the way forward with a round chambered. I don't know if this is normal for p64s though.

P64 Headspace's on extractor. That's why you can shoot .380 or 9x18 Makarov in it. If it Headspace's on the case mouth, you wouldn't see what your pic shows.

don't fire .380 out of a mak chambered gun. .380 is smaller diameter than 9x18 and will fit loosely in the chamber, which could result in some gas in your face and ruptured cartridges, plus it won't be as accurate because the bullet can kind of bounce around in the barrel.

I don't think so. Ortgies pistols headspace on extractor too but they are .32 ACP so nothing else can be chambered.
