OP wants first pistol. Anyone shot 1000s of rounds from a Ruger mkiii or 22/45 without any hiccup? Pic related.
>>
Not OP, but what are the differences between the 22/45 and mkiii?
>>
>>28377015
Also, what about Browning Buckmark?
>>
>>28376976
what's your definition of a hiccup?
>>
>>28377015
Grip angle
>>
>>28377047
Don't forget the polymer frame on the 22/45

>>28376976

I have a MKII, 22/45, and a PPQ 22. I have a couple thousand rounds through each of them and all of them have been great. I personally prefer the PPQ over all of them due to feel, but the 22/45 is the best 22 I own.

I know sometimes its the ammo but i guess reliability.
>>
If you mean shooting 1,000 rounds without cleaning that would be hard for any 22. 22 is dirty ammo and it would cake up with unburned powder.
>>
OP here. What would be a good price range for the 22/45?
>>
>>28377106
I paid like 330 for mine.
>>
>>28376976
i got a 22/45 as my first handgun it was a bitch to take apart and clean but i had no real issue with it outside of that.
>>
>>28377015
The 22/45 has a polymer frame that feels kinda like a 1911
>>
>>28377015
Grip angle and corresponding magazine that emulate the grip angle on a 1911. Available in metal or polymer (IIRC only the Hunter has a metal frame).

Great pistol, zero aftermarket.
>>
I've got a MkIII and I have feeding issues with cheap hollow points. At least one every other magazine will jam at the top of the ramp. Other than that my only complaint is the huge pain in the ass of stripping and reassembly.
>>
>>28377197
Do you need to strip for a clean??
>>
>>28377211
Not really but it helps. I just mix ATF and white spirit in a squirt can, coat it and run over it with a q-tip. It really is that annoying to get back together. There's even one step that if you mess up, it can fuck up the inside of your breach and make it non-functional
>>
>>28377211
Generally after a range trip I'll lock the bolt back and just clean the bore from the muzzle, then hit the internals through the breech with something like gunscrubber and shake it all out.

About every 1000 rounds I'll tear it down and do a good clean.
>>
>>28376976
If you're going to get a .22lr pistol, you might as well just get a .22 air pistol because the ammo is cheaper and you're not going to kill anything with .22lr anyway.
>>
>>28376976
Why not a Browning Buckmark?
>>

this retard

>tfw have like 4000 rounds through my 22/45 no issues
>>
How is the reliability of 22 pistols?
Obv not as reliable as 9mm due to the nature of the cartridge, but just wondering.
>>
>>28377643
Cartridge reliability != pistol reliability

I've never had a misfire in my MkIII that wasn't due to a dud.
>>
>>28377360
How is it retarded? .22lr is more expensive than some lead projectiles and air.

.22lr isn't even enough for your life to depend on, come on.
>>
>>28377354
>unscrewing the rear sight assembly to clean the gun
>dealing with the zero wandering whenever you clean your gun
no
>>
>>28377189
It's the same magazine just with a goofy butt plate. The loading angle is the same in the inside of the grip you just don't notice because the 1911 grip is kinda girthy.

Have a Ruger 22/45, would have managed to put tens of thousands of rounds through it by now if it wasn't for the constant shortage. Got it a couple months after Sandy Hook (purchase was planned for a few months prior, wasn't a panic purchase) and still managed to put a few thousand through it that year, but finding ammo for it got more annoying for me than just reloading for 9mm and .380 so I don't shoot it much any more.
