Why is the sks considered to be the best innawoods rifle when surplus 7.62x39mm would rust it up without proper cleaning? I would imagine it would be difficult to clean an sks without a steady supply of clean water.

I would rather use a .308 Winchester bolt action rifle.
>easy cleaning
>non-corrosive ammo
>ammo available anywhere
>>
>>28375666
because it was $200 for a semi auto in a cheap military caliber when it earned that reputation. it's still going to be better than a bolt gun in a shootout and tougher than a deer rifle, you can get non-corrosive 7.62x39, the vast majority of it is non-corrosive nowadays. and the bore is chromed anyhow.

Why get a bolt action when you can get a g3 clone with all the pros of that bolt action and then some
>pic related
>>
>>28375666
Just don't use surplus you faggot. Anyone who relies on surplus ammo when their life is on the line deserves to be killed.
>>
>>28375777

>surplus runs fine through any SKS I own.
>zero malfunctions in 1200 rounds

Must just be you.
>>
>>28375841
I wasn't saying that surplus isn't reliable, I've run probably 4,000 rounds of surplus through my respective funs.

I'm really drunk and was angry that someone was badmouthing my raifu. That and steel-cased production ammo and brass is best in an SKS.
>>
>>28375666
Dont shoot surplus?its mostly non existent in the states, but non corrosive stuff is cheap and plentiful.

SATAN TRIPS,
SKS
>Semi Auto
>Ten rounds
>Muh milled receiver quality
>Muh stripper clips
>Has cleaning rod and cleaning kit all inside rifle
>Literally one more step to clean than a bolt gun
>There's a lot of non-corrosive 7.62x39....
>Chrome lined barrel
>Bayonet for doing cheeki breeki shit
>Can also use bayonet as mono-pod
>Ammo is actually available everywhere....and you can buy bulk vacuum sealed spam cans of non corrosive wolf shit
>Can PU scope if you really want
>Successfully used innajungle by fucking Vietnam shits
>Used in Yuropoor wars to some extent
>Overall comfortable rifle and joy to shoot, it's just a little heavy

These are just the pros that I could think of. To his, his own.

I just posted the cheapest fal i wasnt saying the c308 was the best innawoods rifle
>>
>>28375666
Most 7.62x39 around is non-corrosive.
If you're not American, your opinion is invalid.
>>
>>28375666
>I would imagine it would be difficult to clean an sks without a steady supply of clean water.

If there isn't enough water to clean your gun you have much bigger problems than keeping your rifle clean.

Literal jungle people and desert nomads can keep SKSs and AKs running.
>>
>shoot cheap surplus
>claim the gun is the problem
>muh bolt action don't have dis problem
Fudds, everyone.

I want to pick up a few sks's as raifu's for me and the waifu. Are there any good guides for buying one of these beauties?
>>
So I got my first sks for Christmas and I think I made a mistake. I was cleaning off the cosmoline and used simple green. Some of the parts, especially the top cover of the receiver feel very unusual. I'll be unable to oil them for another three hours at least and I'm worried I've ruined my gun. Anyone know how I should proceed?
>>
>>28377181
>Anyone know how I should proceed?

smoke a blunt and chill out?

you got soap on your gun. just wash it off with water

you could probably just leave it and it would be fine
>>
>>28377234
Sounds good. It just felt gritty and was quite discoloured. I suppose I might be panicking a little but this gun was a gift from my gfs family and I thought I fucked up.
>>
>>28377244
>>28377234
Doesn't help that all over the internet people are saying don't use simple green on Aluminium.

Im holding an sks in commiefornia for 24 hours at LGS, its 475 :< wanted to get /k/s approval first
>>
I'd rather just get a cheap AK like the wasr or c39.... prob just as reliable if not more and only like 150 more.
>>
>>28377181
bro its a tool meant to be used in war
I totally understand because its new, that being said..... it is made for war simple green wont fuck it up any more than what it was built to handle

They are very different, they have near nothing in common sans chambering.

>>28377181
>I'm worried I've ruined my gun.
That's funny.
No, at most you might maybe ruin the wood or something, but that's expendable, get a new one online if so, maybe a plastic one.
Don't get "detachable" mags for it though, they suck.
>>
>>28377252
your sks isn't aluminum, unless it's an aftermarket part.

>>28377420
that's probably a good plan

/k/ doesn't even know what a quality SKS is

Nothing but commie pig iron on this gun, dan.

>buying surplus ammo other than m67 strictly for ranges that don't allow bimetal jacketed ammo
I just don't see the point in running corrosive ammo if you don't absolutely have to.
If you want cheap, waterproofed, good ammo, just get fast-yawing golden tiger.
Also, there's better innawoods rifles, even if you restrict yourself to 762x39. The sks's weight is the main thing holding it back imo, love it otherwise.

Because "preppers" are stupid and cheap. Surprise, surprise.

Norincos aren't the same as Sino-soviets. Don't know if newer Norincos have Chrome lining like the old sinos.

AFAIK, all Norincos are chrome lined.

>>28375666
It's ergonomic, the ammo is cheap, it's a good round, it's tough, it's accurate.

It's a good guide gun.

G1 is FAL is CETME is L1A1
>>
i hear sks`s get you a good discount on water
>>
>>28378287
Holy shit those stocks are beautiful. Where may I buy some.
>>
>>28375666
Because they're
A). Cheap pretty much everywhere
B). Semiauto
C). Chambered in a common cartridge
D). Legal even in less free nations, such as Canada
>>
>>28375666
>Why is the sks considered to be the best innawoods rifle
It was never considered the best innawoods rifle.
It was thought of as "the" innawoods rifle.
Why?
Solely because it was cheaper than any other intermediate semiauto available. Half the price of an AK 10 years ago, 1/4 the price 15 to 20.
Now, though, they're dried up to the point where it's 1:1 or even more than the price of a decent AR.

Simply put the SKS was the #1 centerfire semiauto for 25+ years. That's over now, though many people who haven't looked at the prices in years don't realize it and continue to spew that meme.
>>
>>28385268
>the SKS was the #1 centerfire semiauto for 25+ years
about 1980 to 2000ish, but yeah
