/k/ you have 10 seconds to explain why you don't have one of the greatest self defense/combat weapons ever developed. The N frame .357 with a 5 inch barrel.
>>28374608
I'm curious as to how OP is standing up that revolver with no visible support, this is some witchcraft
>>28374628
Any large frame .357 with a 5 inch barrel is magical. That is the whole point of this thread.
>>28374608
I wanted to get a glock first as a practical gun and then buy something for a bit more fun. So its on my wish list im just saving up the money
>>28374628
It's the magic of the /k/ube
should I get a model 19 or a model 28
what are the differences between the two
>>28374608
That's not how you spell '4 inch Model 19'.
That said, my N-frames are in .44 and .45 while my K's are in .38 and .357.
>>28374661
The 19 is a K-frame the 28 is an N-frame. N's are larger and heavier than the K's.
Here's a 6.5" Model 29 alongside a 4" Model 19 for size reference.
Get whichever appeals most to you. The Combat Magnum (Model 19) tends to carry a lower price point than the Highway Patrolman (Model 28). Between the two, I prefer the K-frames for .38 and .357.
>>28374661
They are not a Model 27
>>28374684
Some of us are fine driving a Pinto, others stick to a Cadillac.
The L frame would be ideal for the .38 & .357 since its a bigger frame, therefore it can take more of a beating then the smaller K frame...
Colt Python 6 inch .357
I want to buy a S&W in either .38 or .357 in the near future. I'm a pretty skelly guy and I'll probably be CCing it occasionally so what do you guys recommend?
Classic stuff only if possible, I know modern S&Ws are just as based but I hate fat chunks of stainless steel.
>>28374608
Because I'm poor and couldn't justify >$700 for a S&W but got lucky and ended up with a sweet Trooper Mk III for $400 because the original owner tapped it for a scope mount.
Being poor sucks though with a nice revolver with a perfect blued finish, I don't want to shoot it and make it less pretty. I'm seriously considering buying a Taurus .357 to shoot.
>>28374684
I hear you. I never heard of any problems in durability with the K Frame, have you? I have a Model 19 and I love it. I've handled a 28 and the weight for that caliber gun seemed ridiculous. Nothing against them though if that is what someone wants.
>>28374876
Nice Colt. I'd shoot the shit out of it. A gun that isn't shot is useless, regular cleaning and proper care and not being abusive will not diminish your pistols value. Also my M27 was had for $500 bucks, if you look around enough you can get SW in the $300-600 range all day erry day.
>>28375017
K frames are perfect in terms of size, not so in terms of durability. There are .357 loads that should not be shot out of a K frame on the "regular".
The N frame is bomb proof and on par with the Ruger Single actions and GP series. If you want hot .357 and to fuck around a model 27 or 28 is the way to go.
>>28374608
.357 is a ladies round
Since Colt stop making them and if anything break where are you going to find parts for it?... and there is a high demand for them in the market.... a good condition can fetch as high as $10k. so do you think it is a good investment if you break one?
>>28375180
Used troopers are not ever going to sell for $10,000.
Just because something is not made anymore or old, it doesn't mean it is valuable and or continues to grow in value.
I have turn of the century firearms from SW and Winchester that will never fetch more than a few hundred bucks at best.
>>28374608
I'm a poorfag
>anything S&W
>>28374763
A Crown Vic/Town Car analogy would be more appropriate.
>>28375017
Any .38 is fine in the K-frames. Stick to 158gr .357 loads, though. Forcing cone cracks are a rare but well-publicized affliction. As stated earlier, if you want to use the hottest loads you can find, you'd be best served by an L or N frame revolver.
This King Cobra is what I reserve my 'hot stuff' for.
>>28374763
>Some of us are fine driving a Pinto, others stick to a Cadillac.
I guess that means I drive a Lada.
>>28375253
Hey Drake, Colt Trooper Mk III guy a few posts up. I know the Mk III is a pretty strong design but I want to try some 125gr .357 from Freedom Munitions in it.
Their claimed velocity is quite high, not sure how inflated the numbers are but should I worry about shooting a couple hundred of potentially quick 125gr loads out of it? Also, holy shit that King Cobra.
Got my first revolver today /k/omrades
How did I do?
>>28375409
Hey man, Security Six is still better looking than the GP100. I had a GP100 4" before my Trooper and just thought it was hideous and the weight was up too high and forward.
Compared to a Smith or Colt the Ruger felt like wield a god damn cinder block. I'd love to find a cheap Security Six for range duty.
Because I have a MR 73
>>28375446
>bragging about a french meme gun in poor condition with a Century Arms billboard on it
Top fucking kek.
I am 18 and can legally only buy Rifles and shotguns.
>>28375471
Don't worry maybe one day you'll be lucky enough to own one, until then enjoy whatever you have.
>>28375429
3in or 4? I have a four with new fiber optics, and redialed it. Reliably pinging dinner plate sized steel at 120yds with shitty fiocchi 158 grain. Really want to put a higher wood trip to match my 1911s but it shoots so fucking well as is...
>>28375420
The Mk III and Mk V Troopers are very stout revolvers. The King Cobra and Trooper Mk V share the same frame, as well. The post-Mk III lockwork is nothing like the older Colts to include the Python. I've pushed 125gr's as fast as 1700 fps from my King Cobra but most commonly I feed it 125's in the 1400-1500fps neighborhood.
>>28374608
I don't have a 5" .357 N Frame because I have a 4" 28-2 instead.
Fucking love that thing.
19-5
>>28376092
2/2
because i have an N frame .44 magnum with a 5 inch barrel.
