Hey guys. Looking into building a 6 inch 1911
I have 0 experience on building 1911s. I was wondering if I could buy a 1911 lower, build it up and put a 6 inch slide on it or if I have to order a long slide lower if there is such a thing.
Full disclaimer I am pretty drunk and just started researching while watching John Wick

Any advice on what kind of lower I should buy?

My Javelina 10mm 7" longslide. I'm thinking of buying one of those muzzle brake barrel bushings just to make it even longer.

I'd love if an affordable brand like Ruger or even Rock Island would make some modern super long slides. People drop quite a bit on haggard old AMTs so there is definitely a demand that currently unmet.

To be honest its a little more difficult than that. In order to have any semblance of accuracy and reliability, youll need to blend parts, time the barrel, hand fit everything, and lapp the god damn slide to the frame. Its nowhere near as easy as an AR-15 or AK. You can spend to have some of this professionally done, but you'll end up paying out the ass. When its all said an done, better to just contact a custom shop and have them do it for you.

I've always liked the look of the 1911 Longslides. Ed Brown, Case Reeder, and Olympic Arms, Springfield Armory are some of the makers that spring to mind.

OP, full size frames will work for a longslide build.
I don't know if there are any full length guide rods available, though. All else other than recoil spring should be the same.
