AFGAN: The Soviet Experience (1989) - Documentary on the Soviet-Afghan War

During the 1980s Russia fought a disastrous war in Afghanistan. Here is the definitive documentary on the war, drawing lessons from the Soviet experience. Includes amazing footage from the war, including Soviet Spetznaz forces in action.

Gotta wonder how fair the whole thing was, granted the Afghans probably got what was coming to them. No mention of the tactics they used to actually find the terrorists.

Uh, Russia has drawn pretty good lessons. Besides the 1st Chechen war waged by incompetent Yeltsin, every skirmish they've been in so far, was over relatively fast and clean.

And the Russian conflict which is closest to Afghan is Syria atm, where they are operating out of a couple airbases and can move all assets back within a week. (never mind the clever idea of using training funds to bomb snackbars)
