Well I don't see why it has to specifically be a blue heeler but yes, Australian Cattle Dogs are generally extremely tenacious and won't take any shit from anyone other than their owner.
They aren't the biggest dog around but are a great size and build to run extremely fast and have thick, wide skulls and jaws to produce a powerful bite.
Very protective.
Also very healthy compared to overbred dogs like german shepherds

Australian shepherds have apparently been replacing German shepherds as EOD dogs for bomb detection and for S&R. Wouldn't be surprised if they start getting mixed back into combat service like Ww1 and WW2 since they're more old school German shepherd sized than German shepherds are
