I have a 3-12x50 optic collecting dust (came off of a 300WSM I sold a while back). I want to put an optic on my 10/22...
Should i slap that on the rifle and be done with it but risk looking like a mall ninja or should I buy something more appropriate?
Side note: I have parts coming for accurizing it so it will justify me buying a higher end optic if i do
I can't remember the term right now, but fullsize rifle scopes are calibrated for a basic longer range. In order to get a completely accurate .22 scope, it has to be designed for rimfire.
As soon as I remember the term I'll let you know.
Pic related, my ruger.

I figured as much..
Long haul i was looking at either a Nikon prostaff rimfire II, or the same P22 you have on yours. I've been trying to determine the real difference between them other than magnification.

go for it. who gives a shit if some retard thinks you're a mall ninja? you can never have enough scope. I just put a 3-9x40 on my marlin 60.

Are you me?

I think you're talking about parallax, and I'm not sure that matters at anything less than 50 yards for a .22lr

correction: other than 50 yards or less

i had heard for 50 yard accuracy shooting that parallax must be at 50 yards for best results.
Idk if it matters, I just wanted a gun that could shoot one ragged hole at 50 yards with 5 rounds

Looking at trying to turn it into a tackdriver (because CCI .22lr is still a helluva lot cheaper than handloaded match 5.56)
I think maybe the parallax on a fixed parallax optic for regular rifles may be set out far enough that you cant dial down the vertical low enough for a .22. I havent done extensive research on it, but that is the only reason i can think of for not using a regular riflescope on a rimfire

I don't know, anon. Is your marlin one of the old 18 round magazine ones that doesn't lock open?

Kek, I did the exact same thing
