What's /k' opinion on ruger?

breddy good

>I WISH THEYD FUCKING MAKE A MINI 14 THAT TOOK AR MAGS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
breddy ok since Bill "King Fudd" Ruger died.
Their revolvers are nice, bolt rifles are high-teir, and everyone and their dog owns a 10-22. Mini-14s are meh, desu senpai

Had to take apart a Speed Six for cleaning the other day.

Crazy goddamn Kraut clockwork. Sometimes I think that my forefathers have a bit of a problem with needless mechanical intricacy.

Ruger is an American company

Your new is showing
>>
I usually call them Rugay's and tell people how much Ruger fucking sucks on this website. But I like them IRL for the most part and sell a fair number at work and don't have any moral qualms with it as they are quality guns for the most part and the ones that aren't Ruger does a good job with... For the most part. I think their AR gun smith in the warranty department is some sort of fucking Orangutan though.

I like my 10/22 and LCP, may pick up a precision at some point soon.

i do not care for them

nice weapons, very solid and reliable.

Their .22 pistols and the SR1911 are seriously nice.

Hunting rifles are pretty much the best new value for the money at this point, but if you can find a deal on an old R700 that would probably be better.

AR15s are meh quality, fairly reasonable for their price point.

Mini is ok, I think they were smart to accurize it to move out of the SKS market, but now it's competing with 20" ARs which have a much better aftermarket. Still reasonable if you like the aesthetics/simplicity though.

Carry pistols are on par with the rest of the polymer frame market.

Have a 10/22 and 9e that work flawlessly. Sr9c had a couple light primer strikes out of about 300 rounds. And it was only Winchester white box that it happened with. Pretty sure it's because I took it straight to the range without cleaning out all the gunk it was shipped in.

Sure they may be cheap but damn do they always seem to work great. I love em.

There's something about a lot of Ruger guns that I just can't quite put my finger on. They just have this "cut corners" feel to a lot of them, like the polymer components/nasty cheap wood on 10/22s, or their beefy revolvers. Plus, I think a lot of their stuff is overpriced for what you get.

Otherwise, they're pretty solid. I really do gotta give them props for the fucking ridiculous variety of firearms they make.

Too expensive for what they are on most items. I prefer Marlin and Savage (though the Savage semi .22s are shit, but the bolt actions are god-tier) for .22 rifles. I don't think they excel in any category over the competition.

I know but i needed a doublestack daily driver

Smith's look classy and the old ones are nice, but I wouldn't buy a new one.
For what they charge it is inexcusable to use MIM parts and cut corners the way they do.
Add to that the stupid Hillary Hole they still insist on fucking up their revolvers with and I just couldn't ever buy a new one.

I would take a new Ruger over a New Smith any day of the week.

That all being said I would buy a pre-lock pinned/recessed Model 27 or 29 in a heartbeat. (Yes I know pinned/recessed isn't a huge deal, but the guns from that time period were very high quality).

I like S&W also, but refuse to buy one with a Hillary Hole.

Back on Topic, I love all Ruger products, except the P95. Those just suck

I honestly don't feel like the minis are competing with ARs. Everyone Likes to compare them but the truth is the rifle is doing fine in its market. The tactical models are just cutting out the middle man for the guys that are dead set on making everything they own into 80s movie props instead of buying an AR to begin with.

Really regretting just buying an sr9c. With the prices of lcps and sr series dropping the last couple months I had figured they were going to bring out something new this year. Damn I wish I was more patient.

Like the revolvers. Both single and double action.

Used to have an 80's vintage Ruger Security Six 6inch 357 magnum. Nice gun that was accurate and light to carry when innawoods. Thing was very well built and easy to care for. It is now my Dad's home gun.
