You can't stop common sense gun legislation. It's the future we need to ensure the survival of the human race. Assault weapons need to be restricted, they're too dangerous.
This isnt really how it works. POTUS cant really tell congress to not put something up for a vote. You could however get him to promise to veto another AWB. But considering its his last year he may just decide to wipe his ass with your petition...but it is likely he will just ignore the outcome. Worst case he uses the lack of signers to say this shows the people support a ban

I've talked with the AK Operators Union and they say that the bill is DOA, but what's it going to hurt to defeat it and give it heat before it even goes up for consideration? But who's to say that Chieftain Obongo won't make it a presidential directive. I wouldn't put it past him to.

Sign the petition if you want, but the thing to do that really matters is emailing/calling your legislators about opposing the ban. Apparently they go by a numbers system; taking notice to the amount of calls/emails received about a topic, rather than simply reading (or listening to) every single one.
They supposedly don't even take email addresses into account, so multiple tallies can be made by one person towards an issue.

I feel like this is a clever troll itself, every time I read about "the easiest board to troll" I get pissed.
I can go to /r9k/ right now and post "tonight" with a picture of a gun and get 100+ replies and numerous threads on other boards (see this morning). But if I came on here and put anything about shootings or clipazines or our normal troll topics it'll die with 30 replies, 10 of them rating the troll attempt.
