So I've been a private security guard for about a year now, I started off with Securitas and now I'm with smaller local family owned company that allows me to wear body armor, bloused boots, fully armed duty belt (baton, MK4 OC spray, pistol, and knife). I do mostly on site, started doing driving patrols. Fuck no one told me about kicking out homeless people of the property site.
I feel sorry for them, but I got a job to do.

I'm doing this because I know I have some medical issues that would DQ me for military enlistment and applying with any LEO agency.
But I will attempt to apply for both in the near future.

Lol commiefornia.
>>
>>28348999
Yeah so, I'm not a liberal douche bag.

I do have other mall ninja gear, AR15 16" 1:9 twist non-chrome lined 5.56,R870 & M500 shotguns, black kevlar helmets (black on the inside not just outside), bullet proof vests (both concealable and outer/tactical), Oakley M-Frame shooting glasses.
I have steiner binoculars 12x42 predators, Russian Bagish 8x30, and ATN DNVM-4. Also have black Fox 40 whistle, and U.S. G.I. whistle in OD.
>>
>>28349038
I just thought it was funny they had permit for a baton. then i noticed the state
>>
>>28349081
What states don't require baton permits?

I thought this permits were necessary in each state because as a private security guard you need to be able to know the basic laws and how to
properly use these defensive weapons.

I believe that even before California went anti-gun, that the state still had required that armed guards have a permit to carry exposed firearm. Unless this was a new rule because of Jerry Brown passing that law in 2012 or 2013 were open carry in public is illegal.
>>
>>28349127
From my quick 5 minutes of google the only places i saw a baton permit for were CA. But that was only 5 minutes of googles.
>>
>>28348990
What do you carry?
>>
>>28350948
not at the on-site, will have to buy a pistol for when I do driving patrols.
>>

Congratulations on being a stereotype
>>
>>28349038
Also got sets of NIJ Level 4 ceramic plates single curve.

Yes also got those AR500 level 3 plates. I got them before I learned about them being penetrated by the green tip 556 ammo at short/close range.

Yoh should drop that Chubby weight if you want to be an operator

>What states don't require baton permits?

Ohio secfag here:

iirc, the only things we are legally required to have certs for are firearms.

most often, companies will issue internal certs for shit like mace and baton, and training fags sell baton, taser and mace training, but its moreso to protect the company from lawsuits. it isn't required.

Del-Ton Sport?
>>
>>28348990
Where are you able to buy concealable bullet proof vests in California that isn't some LEO-only shop?
>>
>>28348990
How much is the pay? Is it okay to part-time with private security companies?
>>
ahem....

"Bloused boots"

Why.

?
>>
>allows me to wear body armor, bloused boots,
>allows Bloused boots
>allows

tryhard fggt detected. You are going to get fucked with so hard if you enlist.
>>
Kind of NOT REALLY related but I applied for loss prevention at a few different places. What exactly would I be doing? Is it just like security but without a uniform?

I figure it'd be more like blending in and making sure redguards and drug addicts don't steal stuff.
>>
>>28349367
Ohio guard here. Need certs for baton, mace, cuffs and tasers

not OP
but yes, you can order direct from manufacturer with proof of employment (your GC) just scan it and send it in with your size measurements. I high recommend sticking with level II.

level IIIa gets bulky and cumbersome to wear, alot of the level II vests are comfy.

Spike's Tactical lower, Palmetto State Armory's PTAC upper, DMPS lower parts, black Magpul MOE stock, and black Magpul rear sights.

LEO shops will sell to private security due to the CA BSIS guard card as credentials.

Nice I would love to work as an armed guard with Planned Parenthood.

Fuck those rabid anti-abortion nuts.
>>
>>28353471
Sweet, great credentials.
>>
>>28353689

ty, you'll get there in a few years.

it's hard, but it is possible to break $42k a year as a guard. only reason i keep doing it

>seem's like chump change, but to the uneducated it's bretty good for something that only requires a HSD. plus I get to use the gear queer shit i buy.

it's not green tip, it's (X)M193 55gr FMJ

I do Private Security, Have since I was 22, 25 now.
Started with Securitas
Moved to U.S. Security
Now I work for a hotel.

NY sucks for guards and so does the pay.
>>
>>28353972
are you making less than $12-$17/hour?
>>
>>28354029
Yes, which is the norm. I made 13 an hour for 2 months and then got accused without proof of sleeping. So I got shoved into 9 an hour.
>>
>>28354029
>>28354062
Note: I now make 11 an hour at the hotel, started at 10.50.
>>
>>28354071
That's pretty bad. I managed to claw my way up from $10 to $13 in a year and that's still less than cops who start at $20 here
>>
>>28353743
How the fuck. I worked for Securitas in Southern Cali for about 10 months during college, and had already cleared $40k by the time I quit.

Yall need to learn how to market yourselves better or something, goddamn.
>>
>>28354103
Best paying job is working at the local nuclear power plant Ginna. that's 17-24, they also want former military or police, I see more security requiring that.
>>
>all you chumps boasting about $13 an hour or $40k a year

Holy shit, how do you people manage to exist? I'm on 60k and I'm still struggling and pushing hard to make more.
>>
>>28354152
It depends on area honestly
>>
>>28354207
Good for you, nobody cares.
>>
>>28354207
Dollar goes further in some places. Depends on what you want and what you have. I could survive on an inflation adjusted 50k where I live.
>>
What the fuck? How do you guys get paid so little? I do security at a hospital in Australia and earn $24.49, plus 25% casual + nightshift allowance and weekend rates
>>
>>28353270
That's part of it.

A large portion is going to be walking around the salesfloor, looking for said redguards and druggies taking stuff, then detaining them at the door, provided certain criteria are met.

Then you process them, which includes paperwork, civil demands, calling the cops if applicable, photographing them, getting receipts, and interviewing them.

Takes about an hour from initial detention to when they get arrested by the cops, if they take a while, or if the person has lots of shit they stole.

You also will be called occasionally to verify ID's, for possible counterfeit money, western union fraud, return fraud, etc. If your store doesn't have uniformed security, you'll likely be called to handle fights and escort disorderly folks out.

Tagging merchandise for EAS systems is commonplace in some stores. Some stores will also have you install cctv equipment as needed.

Source: LP for Kmart, Wal-Mart, Publix, Tommy Hilfiger, and other small stores.
>>28353081
>>
>>28349127
in OK you only need certs for OC spray, and pistol gripped tasers. regular pepper spray is fine below a certain % of OC I think and handcuffs are considered a constitutional right along with the citizens arrest. If they committed a felony it's within your legal right to arrest and detain them until the police arrive, then you can press charges.

Also most security guards around here, when given the option tend to just hang a 9mm and a flashlight on their belt.
>>
>>28353539
3a isn't that much more bulky, and once you've broken it in, it's just as comfortable.

Not much more expensive, either.

I've had both and prefer the 3a, even in shit hot Florida weather.
>>
>>28354447
That's only $18 an hour usd
>>
>>28349127
>This guy

You would actually get laid maybe if you didn't walk around with shittily fitting trousers bloused like a 4 year old and scuffed milsurp boots, and maybe dropped 70lbs to at least look like you could protect a baby. Maybe unblouse your trousers because you are in the fucking city and you don't have any regs telling you to.
>>
Jesus, this thread makes me want to stay with my job. I'm a janitor, and I make $19.75 USD with holiday pay (about $200 per holiday). All I do is pick and clean up shit.
>>

Literally.

Everyone thinks you're retarded and I bet you don't get laid.

In PA it's the act 235 leathal weapons training that's required for carrying a baton.
>>
>>28349127
It's like you don't know what belt keepers are.
>>
>>28354572

Ah shit. Well, the place I applied for called me earlier when I was doing something. Got more stuff to do for a few more hours and I'm just taking a fast shit break so I'll call them back when I'm done working.

Thank you for the information.
